Northern California Botanists Botanical Leaflets Volume 1, Issue 1 Presidents Message We are pleased to announce the initiation of the semi- annual newsletter of North- ern California Botanists. Our first NCB symposium, “The Interface Between Research and Management in Northern California Bot- any” was held at CSU Chico on January 18-19, 2007. Our symposium attracted over 200 participants and was a resounding success by providing a lively and en- gaging forum for presenters and participants . See the recap of the first annual symposium below. Next years symposium “Northern California Plant Northern California Bota- nists (NCB) held its first annual symposium. The In- terface between Research and Management in Northern Cali- fornia Botany at California State University, Chico (CSUC) on January 18 and 19, 2007. Approximately 220 registrants attended and enjoyed a variety of excel- lent speakers and exhibit booths. Northern California Bota- nists is an organization de- voted to the study, preser- vation, and conservation of native plants and plant com- munities of Northern Cali- fornia. Botanists and other resource professionals came from all over northern California, but included some from as far away as Claremont and Santa Barbara in southern California. It was wonderful to see so many botanists and plant enthusiasts at the event. All in all, it was a fantastic two- day events with many peo- ple discussing diverse topics related to botany in the North State.
