THE EXPERIMENTAL stage of the pecan is past, and we j are coming into the fuller realization of what the pecan is to be in the development of our great country. The trees are proving their worth in the bearing of the finest nuts with the best of prices. The pecan area is practically the cotton area of the United States. The best cotton lands produce the best pecans. After a grove is well established, a pound of pecans can be grown cheaper than a pound of cotton.
Over production is pactically out of the question. Out of more than 100,000,000 people in our nation we think we can safely say that not more than one in a thousand know that there is such a nut grown as the fine paper shell variety. The value of a pecan grove of the budded varieties in full bearing is difficult to estimate. The writer knows two trees in Cairo, Ga., well worth $1000.00 each. After twenty years of experience the writer is con- vinced that if you will plant a small grove of budded pecans, and care for them well, they will care for you in old age, and no better commercial investment can be made on a large scale.
The prices below are for strong, well rooted trees, dug as ordered, carefully packed and delivered to the express or railroad company at Cairo, Ga.

We are careful to send out only the strongest and best budded trees, and we guarantee them to be true to variety.
We use budding wood from our own trees, which can be seen fruiting in our groves. We will be glad to meet you at train and have you visit our groves and nursery, one mile from city. We have been complimented by the state department as growing the finest trees in Georgia.
Cash should accompany all orders, or satisfactory reference be given.

VARIETIES
SCHLEY — is decidedly at the head of the list. It is the best flavored and highest priced nut.
cS' DELMAS — makes a strong beautiful and vigorous tree, and is quite an early and prolific bearer. It is an exceptionally fine nut in every respect.

-" STUART — is adapted to a larger territory than any other nut, and is quite a favorite with many.
i--' FROTSCHER — as to quality, is next in favor to the Schley on the market. It is a strong and beautiful tree and is quite
. a favorite in some sections.
VanDEMAN — is a vigorous tree and fine nut, and placed by some at the head of the list.
^ SUCCESS — is a very fine nut; fruits well, and is becoming quite a favorite.
C — MONEYMAKER — is a very strong and healthy tree and extra fine bearer. The nut is a little undersize, but will more than make up in the bearing, and is becoming popular.
MOBILE — makes a strong tree; a quick growth and large nuts. It is a very early and prolific bearer.

PECANS AS FOOD
Pecans are known by alF who have ever had the privilege of testing them to be a delight to the palate, but in this day when food values are being considered as never before, it is of particular interest to note what Dr. Kellogg, of Battle Creek Sanitarium has to say of the pecan as an article of food1. Dr. Kellogg is a recognized authority on this subject. — Says Dr. Kellogg.
regard the pecan as one of the very finest of nature’s choice products. A pound of pecans contains more nourishment than other kind of food. A pound of pecans contains as much protein as half a pound of meat as much fat as three fourth of a pound of butter and as much starch or carbohydrates as one-fourth of a pound of bread, so a pound of pecans is the full equivalent of a pound and a half of other highly concentrated and highly nourishing food. In comparing total values, a pound of pecans is worth in nutritive values, two pounds of pork chops, three }x>unds of salmon, two and a half pounds of turkey or five pounds of veal.
“An acre of land planted to pecans will produce from four to ten times as, much nourishment as one used for pasture. In the next century nuts will largely, if not entirely, take the place of meats on the bill of fare and the pecan will assume its rightful place at the head of the list of nourishing and digestible foodstuffs.”
