‘Delegates from American Association of Nurserymen Visiting Our Rose Fields July 1928

TRADE PRICE LIST CALIFORNIA BUDDED ROSES

JUNE 1929

California field-grown roses lead in qual¬ ity and robust habit of growth because grown under ideal conditions of soil and climate in the open field.

Especially is this true of roses grown in the even temperate region of the San Francisco Bay territory in which Niles is situated. Our roses commence growing about the middle of March and grow vigorously un¬ til July 15th; having attained their size by that time we proceed to harden them

up so as to have them fully matured for digging in November. At this time we can depend upon frost making them thoroughly dormant. Shipping begins in the early part of December.

Every care is taken to properly grade, pack and ship so that they will reach our cus¬ tomers in good condition.

By careful selection we have included the best of both old and new varieties, yet kept the number of varieties as low as possible.

Shipping Information

During the shipping season we have carloads of roses going to many eastern points. In some cases we can make up pool cars and thereby secure low freight rates for our customers. The minimum carload weight is 18,000 pounds to Chicago; for points farther east the minimum weight is 20,000. About 40,000 roses can be loaded in a car. The car lot rate to most eastern points is $1.8 7/4 per 100 pounds.

Our No. 1 grade roses packed for L.C.L. freight weigh about 50 pounds per 100. Express ship¬ ments are packed slightly lighter.
