Jersey Grown Dahlias

Issued by Salem Dahlia Gardens

Why Our Plants Are Better

Our plants are propagated from especially selected tubers, free from stunt or disease. They are grown under modetate heat and are strong and stocky and thoroughly hardened off be¬ fore shipment. We have repeatedly shipped green plants to the far Western States and they have arrived in fine condition.

A Bellingham, Wash., grower, under date of March 7, 1929, says:

“I want you to know that I was very much pleased with the ship¬ ment of dahlia plants which you sent me about May 1, 1928. Of the sixteen plants, everyone arrived in as fine condition as they would if I had received them from only a few miles away. It was impossible to tell the plants and blooms during the blooming' season from those raised from the finest local tubers.”

Green plants are much less liable to become diseased than tubers. It is seldom necessary to thin out the stalks when green plants are used, and they will as a rule produce better and larger flowers, as well as better tubers.

Green plants should be planted about five to six inches deep. The roots should be unwound and spread in all direc¬ tions and the plant should then be watered and shaded for a few days.

EVERY PLANT FULLY GUARANTEED

All plants sent out are plainly labelled. We guarantee them to be true to name and to reach you in a good, growing condi¬ tion.

It is advisable to order at once as stock of some varieties is limited.
