Our Patrons

IN PRESENTING you with our 1929 Catalog which i s smaller than those we formerly sent, we wish to assure you that it contains all the stock we formerly listed; illustrations and long descriptive matter have been reduced, and while we believe in illustrating and using color we have come to the conclusion you are very busy as well as ourselves and have not the time to read long descriptions, and by cutting down the size of our catalog we are giving our customers better prices. So compare ours with any other firm and believe ours are cheaper. Please do not feel that we do not give you quality for we are in a position to give you both service and quality. Last year one hundred and twenty-six thousand people sent us their orders, which should be proof that we are giving our customers real values. We have been in the business for thirty-seven years and can truthfully say it has been the most successful year in our experience.

One important point we are going to ask of you is that you let us ship your orders by mail or express with some soil on the plants, and for the additional cost we believe we can get plants to you in better shape than by removing the soil. If you will send 10c extra on each dollar we will leave on part of soil.

Rose Hill

A SPORT OF COLUMBIA. YES.

And it seems wonderfully appropriate and fitting that this latest effort of the original Columbia should have seen the light in the “Old Home Town”, and with The Hills of Richmond.

There may be a future sport of Columbia that will be different from any yet produced, but Rose Hill will never be surpassed

As compared with any of Columbia’s previous sports, we make the following statement:

PETALS It has much the best petalage, the guards being both long and broad, preventing crippled outer petals which always mar an opening rose when present.

PRICE, 1 -year-old, 40c, 3 for $1 .10; 2-year-old, $1.00 each, 3 for $2.68.

SCIENTIFIC ANT CONTROL

In order to understand effective ant control you must have at least 'a brief understanding (which we here supply) of the intensely interesting peculiarities of the life of these small, unsanitary pests which carry disease germs into your home, and even to the food within your ice box. Ants live in colonies. The colony from which your home is infested is divided into four groups of ants. 1. Queens which lay the eggs. 2 Nurses; which care for and hatch the larvae. 3. . Scouts; which travel broadcast seeking food. 4. Workers; which follow the trails blazed by the scouts, and carry the food back to the colony for consumption there.
