POTTED PLANTS For Frosty and Cold Locations

The positively sure method of success in maturing TOMA¬ TOES, EGG PLANT and PEP¬ PERS in the short season local¬ ities so common in these nor¬ thern latitudes is to set KEL¬ LY’S INDIVIDUALS. Thou¬ sands upon thousands of the KELLY INDIVIDUALS con¬ taining these semi - tropical plants are annually doing their duty in maturing their fruit un¬ der unfavorable conditions. The whole secret is in the strong, thrifty plant, well hardened, growing in a specially prepared soil and the plant and roots are not in the least disturbed when resetting takes place. With this form and method, plants that are perishable by frost or in¬ clement weather can be held and easily protected while grow¬ ing all the time, until conditions are favorable.

The additional cost of the KELLY INDIVIDUALS is a mere trifle when compared with the positiveness of the resultant crop.

PLANT BANDS A specially prepared paper band for individual plant growing, 4x4x3 inches. 100 75c; 1000, $5.00. 2y2x2yzx3 inches, 100, 60c; 1000, $4.00.

TOMATO Plants

Finest Transplanted DOZEN 30c

KELLY'S EARLIANA is the best tomato for the Northwest. We have tested everything of promise to date. Kelly's Earli- ana is from selected fruit ma¬ tured in the cool north.

DWARF CHAMPION or TREE A strong, sturdy plant that produces solid and handsome fruit; its quality is unexcelled. It is later than our Earliana.

BURBANK An exceptionally early sort, smooth and quite solid. Color, bright scarlet.

KELLY'S BONNY BEST— By selection we are offering this extremely fine fruit as a very close second to our Earliana in Earliness. The scarlet color and solid meat are desirable. Used extensively as a greenhouse forcing variety. Plants are ready in January and on.

Our Tomato Plants are not just ordinary plants. We begin by care¬ fully producing our own seed in our own fields. Careful selection of fruit for seed purposes only has resulted to a very marked degree, earliness, shipping qual¬ ities and increased production. Our methods of propagation, due to 35 years of persistent appli¬ cation and with our modern equipment and fa- calities, has rendered a service for greater quality production, unequaled by any propaga¬ tors anywhere.

Feeding plants is as essential as that of feeding animals. While most soils are provided with an abundance of the elements to produce crops, wise nature has so combined and locked up the natural fertilizer agents in the soil so that greedy man would not be able to rob them too hastily. This subject is merely pre¬ sented to interest you sufficiently to cause some experimenting with the use of organic and inorganic fertiliz¬ ers. You will find it very interesting and highly profitable. We may be able to assist you. Our service is FREE.

Kelly’s Evergreens

Evergreens, with their oeautiful symmetry and their richness of color, add grace and dignity to the land¬ scape design as no other nursery product can. Within the past few years, evergreens have gained in favor for the planting of the home so that now, the modern design calls for prac¬ tically all evergreens. And this favor has been justly won for, in winter as well as summer, their wonderful shap- liness and their gorgeous hues inocu¬ late their surroundings with a spirit of cheerfulness and satisfaction.

To flank an entrance, the taller growing varieties are particularly ef¬ fective; for rock walls, terraces and rockeries, the prostrate types should be used. As single specimens out in the lawn, there is no more beautiful than the Colorado Blue Spruce. For windbreaks and backgrounds, use the Norway and Colorado Blue Spruce.

Remember our help and advice in beautifying your home is positively free, hence feel free to write us on any of these questions. We are sure that we can assist you.

All of our Evergreens are dug with a large ball of earth about the roots to insure safe transplanting. Crating and transportation are charged at cost.
