J. No. 63 U. S. Plant Patent No. 31 The distribution of these new varieties is conducted under the direction of the New Jersey Peach Council, Inc., in cooperation with the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station The Horticultural News, official organ of the New Jersey State Horticultural Society, contains timely information regarding new varieties, as well as other subjects of direct interest to fruit and vegetable growers. If you do not re¬ ceive this valuable horticultural publication, write to the secretary of the State Horticultural Society, Arthur J. Farley, New Brunswick, New Jersey, and ask for a sample copy. Eight New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station Peach Seedlings Offered to New Jersey Growers For the past three years the New Jersey Peach Council, Inc., has been propagating a few of the more promising peach seedlings originated by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station. All of the seedlings listed have had only a limited test and, therefore, distribution is confined to commercial test orchards in New Jersey. DESCRIPTIONS N. J. No. 66 A large, round, firm, red all over, white-fleshed peach of the Carman season. Hangs to the tree well, freestone when fully ripe, with a sprightly acid flavor. N. J. No. 70 A medium to large, firm, yellow-fleshed freestone of high quality which closely follows Golden Jubilee in ripening. Hangs to the tree well after ripening. Orders limited to 25 trees. N. J. No. 71 A large, round, firm, yellow-fleshed freestone of high quality, ripening a few days after N. J. No. 70 and Golden Jubilee. Hangs to the tree well when it ripens. N. J. No. 73 A large, round, firm, vellow-fleshed freestone of high quality, ripening with N .J. No. 71. N. J. No. 71 and N. J. No. 73 are close competitors, tests having not yet proven the superiority of one over the other. It is suggested that growers plant an equal number of trees of both varieties under uniform soil conditions in the same orchard in order to determine their relative value. N. J. No. 82 A large, oval, firm, yellow-fleshed peach of high quality, which closely follows N. J. No. 71 and N. J. No. 73, and holds to the tree well after it is ripe. N. J. No. 87 A large, oval, high quality, firm-fleshed peach of the Hiley season. It is larger than Eclipse and a candidate to replace that variety on the list of varieties recommended for planting in New Jersey. N. J. No. 83 A large, round, yellow-fleshed freestone of good quality ripening a few days later than Elberta. Orders limited to a maximum of 50 trees. White Hale (United States Plant Patent No. 31) Formerly N. J. No. 63. A large, firm, white-fleshed freestone ripening at the same season as J. H. Hale. Tree more vigorous and the flowers are fertile unlike the sterile J. H. Hale, which is one of its parents. All propagating rights are retained by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station in accordance with the Federal Plant Patent Law. Number of trees limited. Orders limited to a maximum of 100 trees each until November 1, 1932, after which orders for any balance on hand will be accepted.
