Gardening for the Maintenance of Morale

Although, there is no doubt in our minds that gardening will be continued as usual, all Nur- serymen, Florists, Landscape Gardeners, Seeds- men, and Dealers, should do their part to encour- age it. Here is a message we have prepared to be sent to all our retail customers with our 1942 catalogue. It reads as follows:

Gardening

for Pleasure and Morale

During these critical times each and every one of us should, and we will do everything possible for our country. This means, of course, that we must work and think harder than ever before, but we must have a little relaxation in order to continue our work, and do the big job ahead of us.

If a little of this time of leisure could be spent in the garden, it would do a great deal to relieve the nervous strain from our minds. After all, where could a more pleasant and peaceful hour be spent than that of being with your garden flowers.

Why not make this year a bigger and better gar- dening year, or at least as good as last year. Take care of what you have, replace some of your old favorites that may have died last summer during the drouth and above all, add a few novelties to your collection. Novelties will always arouse in- terest in your garden. If you do this, many ex- citing and pleasant moments are in store for you this coming Spring, Summer and Fall.

In closing let us all join in hope and prayer

that 1942 may bring us Victory and long-lasting Peace.
