Richard Meeker
Better Angel
Bokud hooker
In 1933, Forman Brown (1901 — 1996) wrote, under the pseudonym Richard Meeker, a controversial novel called Better Angel, about a young man coming to terms with his homosexuality. We follow Kurt Gray from his school days as target of the bullies through a religiously condemned sexual awakening; only during college and later at university does Kurt find acceptance and finally love. This novel is regarded as the first American novel to present the 'gay' experience in a healthy light. Forman Brown only revealed his authorship of the novel
at the age of 94.
