The equipment will be housed in the Carolina Raptor Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte, NC which is directed by former CBC president Dick Brown. A successful fund raising effort was launched by the initial contribution of Bob Odear of High Point. Audubon Chapters affiliated with CBC in Wake, Forsyth and Mecklenburg Counties added generous amounts, and over $200 was raised at the fall meeting. Additional tax deductible contributions may be sent to CBC headquarters designated for the Rare Bird Alert. Interested birders may call the RBA number for a recorded message detailing recent sightings, migratory activity, etc. in the Carolinas which will be updated weekly on Wednesdays by 5:00 p.m. At the end of the message there will be an opportunity to report any noteworthy sighting. The following information should be furnished: date of sighting, exact location with detailed instructions to site, other pertinent information such as best time to observe, etCo, and your name, telephone number, and home state if sighting needs to be confirmed. Remember — any significant information about birds in your area is desired — not just rare birds. The RBA will only be as successful as we make it.
