Colored Plates of West Coast Butterflies.

These Colored Plates here folldwiiig are Sample Copies of the jihites which form the illustrations of "Tho liiitterJiios of the West Coast,"

an exhaustive work by this same author, ami these plates in sets are imw offered as an abridgement of that book, as an advertisement of it, as tlu- best possible substitute for the more costly book, and as a First ISooli, to interest students, and to lead them into the pleasant paths of the fascin- ating pursuit of Vmtterfly knowledge.

These Plates are actual photos'i'aphs of the real butterflies them- selves, and are true in size, in form, and in color; and liy these figures yon will be enabled to identify the name and sex of nidst of the butterflies ti> be found anywhere on the entire West Coast of the United States.

By these Plates the student can gain a good general Insight intci the science of western butterflies, and then if he wislies to enter more fully into the charming study he can learn from the abdve-named licmk all tliat is now known about them anywhere.

The book named and these Plates form the tirst and only works I'ver published on Coast butterflies: the text <jf the book is full and complete, and it describes every known Itutterfly nn the AVest Coast. It is most beautifully printed and bound in red Imckram in the best modern style. The book and these plates are nut an evanescent or temporary work : tlu'y are for all time; they can never become out of date, nor can they ever h.' a aside by any hder pu1)lication.

The book "The I{uttert|j<-s of the West Coast," and this present IJook of Plates arc nut krpt on sale by any dealer, as the larger jiart of the books were Imnii'd in llie great San Francisco lire, but can be ol)tained only fi-om the Author,
