FARQUHAR COMPANY, BOSTON Farquhar s Specia Rainbow Mixture of S Single Early Tulips These well-known favorites are extensively planted where early-flowering effects are desired, and from early April well into May there is no other flower that can rival the Single Early Tulips in cheerfulness and brilliance of bloom. In the cool of the early spring they bloom on and on, their lasting qualities being truly remarkable. They are invaluable for forcing or for masses in large beds of one color or mixture, but they look even better when planted in clumps and small masses against an evergreen background. Blooming with the narcissi, they add the missing shades of red and pink so lacking in other spring flowers, and thus provide an interest and variety which could easily be lacking if they were not planted. Their culture both indoors and out is exactly the same as that suggested for Darwins Tulips, except that the bulbs may be lifted and dried off two to three weeks sooner, enabling the annuals and other plants which are required for summer bloom to be planted in time to make a fine start. Those marked with an asterisk (*) are the best for forcing. The letters A, B, C indicate the relative time of flowering.
