I also have a first gen made in 1983 which had the same fuzzy tone so I guess it was either the master tape or the PA. We were directly on axis with the Right stack which was placed on the stage. // / Cut at end, flip; missed ~90 seconds of music;spliced end of Eyes then uncut into Maybe You know //^ cut for lead deck flip, didn't start until space // * tape swap Location: 50ft from Right Stack about row 17 aisle seats First Gen AUD: Master was: 1 Sennheiser 441 in middle 2 Sennheiser 421's PAS -> Uher ? -> Sony TCD5M (2nd in line)|TDK MA (OJ,KH) Lineage: JVC -> Sony TCD5M Transfer: Nakamichi CR-5A->Dogstar cables-> Tascam DR-680|SD Recorded By: Tom Pinney & Kyle Holbrook Transferred by: Kyle Holbrook __________________________________________________________________________ We had no plans to attend being we were told it was student tickets only. But the morning of this show I had a class cancel and Olvy and I figured we would go try to get tickets. The drive from Syracuse must have taken 6+ hours. We showed up about 4 PM in a parking lot which was roaring. NO tickets. Anywhere. We found out about the Healey lecture but decided to stay and keep looking. About 20 minutes before showtime a guy shows up and when I asked if he had extras he said No, then turned around and asked how much would we pay? Then told us they were student tickets, he wasn't really into the Dead, we offered $40 each which would have been MUCH more than I'd ever paid for a GD ticket up until that point. He accepted and we wound up with the two tickets pictured in the LMA jpg window. Tom drove to the show ahead of us as he was going to Orono and Providence with his Maine Buddies, and the UVM tickets were student only supposedly so we chose not to go with him. But we gave him our Sony TCD5-M and mics. Then at the very last minute Olvy an I decided to drive from Syracuse to Burlington as mentioned above. Olvy found Tom during first set up near the Right stacks as my ticket was in the bleachers and I didn't get up there until second set. Tom says the guy we were patched out of was named John who used an Uher Cassette deck with 2 Sennheiser 421's and one Sennheiser 441 in the middle into a small mixer. We have it written down as a Yamaha mixer but no no historical proof exists that Yamaha made a small 3 channel mixer in the early 80's, Tom and I figure it must have been a Nakamichi MX100. This mic configuration mixing three to two channels on the fly, may be the cause of that underlying fuzziness, a bit of phase shift perhaps. - - - length expanded size cdr WAVE problems fmt ratio filename 6:26.733 111379244 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7018 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t01.flac 7:48.587 134953004 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7312 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t02.flac 3:47.920 65641004 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7418 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t03.flac 8:02.280 138896684 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7365 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t04.flac 2:39.200 45849644 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7324 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t05.flac 6:45.360 116743724 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7329 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t06.flac 7:17.053 125871404 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7279 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t07.flac 4:26.960 76884524 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7293 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t08.flac 6:26.373 111275564 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7132 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t09.flac 4:37.679 79971530 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7397 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks1t10.flac 27:17.667 471648044 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7247 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t01.flac 11:37.427 200858924 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7157 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t02.flac 9:12.267 159052844 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7291 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t03.flac 3:50.947 66512684 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7394 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t04.flac 0:59.333 17088044 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7037 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t05.flac 7:29.613 129488684 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.6673 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t06.flac 11:25.493 197422124 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.6983 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t07.flac 8:47.813 152010284 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.6965 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t08.flac 8:48.893 152321324 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7147 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t09.flac 6:47.979 117498020 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7393 gd1983-04-13senn421holbrooks2t10.flac 154:35.578 2671367302 B 0.7194 (20 files)
