Fortunate were we as many tapers had cuts. A bit of tape hiss throughout, no dolby added some noise to these old tapes. It was where I saw my second ever GD show, the one where I "got it" September 2, 1980. Thanks to Rick Cantor it was not my last! To return there with recording gear excited me to no end and as Rochester is about a 90 minute drive from Syracuse many of us made the trip. For some reason Tom and I were late but Olvy, Mike and others had set up in the sweet spot, about 65 feet from stage. The venue was all GA back then and the floor was covered with cheap fiberboard commonly in use to cover the ice of the hockey floor which was down as it was still hockey season for the minor league team The Rochester Americans. It was hot and stifling in the arena and we stayed as close to the floor as possible; I recall some folks laying down between sets to cool off. The set list is classic 83 Dead. First Set Shakedown and Little Red Rooster were atypically lengthy versions while the Lazy Lightning > Supplication was inspired. Brent throws down some lyrics and organ action for Rooster to the delight of the crowd. While relatively short the set was satisfying with excellent highlights. Jerry's mic must have gone out at the start of Brown Eyed Women, Jerry and Phil play some sweet licks while it is out and the crowd gets revved up when the crew gets it back working.Brent added to the Stranger second set opener with smokey "crazy night" scat singing.Jerry delivered Ship Of Fools with dripping vocals and sweet guitar.Maybe You Know (on the tape case as: Baby You Know How I Feel) was the band putting up with Brent's need to sing originals which ultimately did wind up with 2-3 top notch tunes (Tons of Steel IMO); however this was not one of them. Still fun for this show and I think the 3rd on that East Coast run. The He's Gone has some downright pretty vocal harmonies and is just a killer version. This morphs into this odd arrangement of Bob rapping now named Bobstar which according to deadbase was only played 3 times. We were able to record all of the drums and space following Olvy's tape flip maneuvers. The Throwing Stones had the early Jerry leads ending without the Bobby screams. The GDTRFB is one of my favorites ever; a copy of this tape saw a lot of rotation in my playback for several years. This was one long second set, including encore it was 1 hour 45 minutes. - - - - - length expanded size cdr WAVE problems fmt ratio filename 14:47.267 255532844 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7418 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s1t01.flac 7:15.107 125310764 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7287 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s1t02.flac 7:05.160 122446124 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7327 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s1t03.flac 9:11.680 158883884 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7457 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s1t04.flac 4:47.773 82878764 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7289 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s1t05.flac 10:20.067 178579244 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7497 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s1t06.flac 7:45.307 134008364 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7532 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s1t07.flac 10:46.307 186136364 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7482 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t01.flac 8:51.907 153189164 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7469 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t02.flac 8:29.467 146726444 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7219 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t03.flac 5:10.027 89287724 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7580 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t04.flac 12:32.800 216806444 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7231 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t05.flac 2:20.760 40538924 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7306 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t06.flac 3:43.813 64458284 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7304 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t07.flac 13:45.680 237795884 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7005 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t08.flac 9:18.360 160807724 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7356 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t09.flac 6:09.507 106417964 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7477 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t10.flac 6:24.880 110845484 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7550 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t11.flac 3:53.613 67280684 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7482 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t12.flac 4:27.893 77153324 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7561 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t13.flac 7:22.843 127538690 B cxx -- ---xx flac 0.7340 gd1983-04-15-24beyerm201s2t14.flac 164:30.216 2842623090 B 0.7372 (21 files)
