Only today did I have a chance to start visiting your correspondents and
I am rushing to give you the following information.

Davesne had sent you on the 9th of this month three sample prints together
with a letter which you will probably have received by now, As he said, he sent
these from kthe post office at the Luxembourg.

Schmelz had found it necessary to finish some plates for his main publishing
house first, since he is very depdent on them, but he has them done now. He will
start to work on your plates right away. I have urged him en and he promised to
deliver one plate in November and the last one before the end of the year.

Kaluffet (2) had put aside your work for similar reasons, promised however to
have it finished within a month.

Picart is going to send you the galley proofs together with the drawings on
Saturday the 24th of this month, he was working on your things and I asked him to
be as quick as possible,

As far as the porlecain store was concerned, I was told that the things for you
were sent well packed and accompanied with the necessary papers to New Orleans
soon after you left for St, Louis and that they might not have reached their
destination until the middle of September and that you should not worry.

I shallvNachet tomorrow and give him your orders,

Now, I believe I have answered all your questions and just wish to add that I
was very happg to be of help to you and that you may call upon me in the future,

I am writing at the first opportunity after having received your kind letter in order

to tell you that I went immediately to Picard and Kehuffet and that I met both working
on your plates, But neither of them could promise me that they would be finished by the
16th of this month since they claim they had not promised to deliver them before the end

of the month, I made both of them promise me to deliver these things at the latest during
the last week of the month, I shall then take over the careful correction of Kam Kehuffet's
plates since it will be impossible to send them to you and wait for their return. At the
same time, I shall, as you requested, send you under separate cover a sample of the work 2
both engravers. I still have not yet visited Mr. Fleischmann and the American consul, but
shall do so soon and further your projects as much as possible,

The plants for Caspar and La Perrälliere have been obtained and they ar& now busy to
look for Algerian plants for you. I could not yet talk to Vilmorin about the && vines since

probably delayed your answer to my letter especially since id did not need an immediate
reply. Now, as to the räquest of Mr. Vilmorin, you will remember that there was some
talk about American vines, Mr. and Mrs. Vilmorin are asking you through me to send them
a shipment of American Vitis species and varieties,. A few words which an zxmx employee
of the house of Vidmorin will add, (Mr. Post), will specify more clearly and detailed
what things are wanted; I was only requested to recommend this matter to you,

I hope you have received the copper plates in time to be able to use them. I
certainly did my best to urge these people on and I was very displeased that Kehuffet
did not give his plates for correction which he had been asked to #8 do, I hope that

your beautiful work on the cacti has already been published or will soon bepublished,

From here in Paris, nothing much new can be told, The well-known Saturday evenings
