Beckert’s Giant Darwin Tulips MAY FLOWERING

O tulip has enjoyed such an ever increasing popularity as the N Darwin Tulip. Whether planted in large formal beds, in the

border, in group planting, or in beds on the lawn, the combina- tions of delicate shades which may be had will never fail to attract attention. The chief characteristics of the Darwins are the perfect cup-shape flowers, exquisite colorings, long wiry stems, and the last- ing qualities of the bloom. They are of the late flowering class, fol- lowing several weeks after the Early Tulips. Darwins grow 24 to 36 inches high and excel all other tulips in color, ranging from softest pink to brilliant scarlet and crimson, blue, mauve, lavender and black. AMARYLLIS—Giant Hybrids

Pot the bulbs so that they are firmly imbedded in the soil with half of the bulb exposed above the surface. Place in the dark for three to four weeks in a temperature of 50 to 60 degrees until well rooted. Bring to a sunny window and water spar- ingly until growth starts, after which water regu- larly and add a little liquid manure once a week. After blooming, take good care of the leaves until they turn yellow, then store bulbs in a cool dark place until repotting time next fall.
