1932 PRICE LIST
@) Ss ORNAMENTAL DEPARTMENT
Quantity Prices—Ten trees or more of one variety
furnished at prices considerably lower than those
listed below. Ask for quantity quotations. Can
also furnish smaller sizes in most varieties at re-
duced prices. Please note that we list the caliper
or diameter of the Shade and Ornamental trees of-
fered, as well as the height. Improperly grown trees
often attain considerable height without proportion-
ate diameter, and quotations listing only the height
are often misleading.
SHADE AND ORNAMENTAL TREES
We invite your inspection of the Shade and Orna-
mental trees growing in our nurseries, especially our
stock of Norway Maple. We believe these to be the
finest samples of this variety to be found in this
section and the prices the most reasonable.
Note that we quote diameter as well as height

with a ball of soil on” the roots, which 1s securely
covered with burlap. In planting, dig a hole where
tree is to stand, place tree in hole just as received
from the nursery, cut the string that holds the bur-
lap in place and, if soil is unbroken, lift tree gently
and remove all burlap. If soil is broken and likely
to fall away from the roots, do not attempt to re-
move the burlap, but lay it out smooth underneath
the tree. Fill in carefully with fine moist soil, which
should be made firm enough by tramping to prevent
roots being moved by the tree swaying in the wind.
The price of Evergreens is governed by color and
form as well as size. It is only natural that selec-
ted specimens should be worth more than the
average nursery run—hence the sliding scale of
prices. All trees balled and burlapped.

Our Roses: are all hardy, two-year, field grown
plants, mostly on their own roots and guaranteed
true to name. For full description please refer to
Descriptive Catalog.
PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS—In handling Rose
Bushes; as well as all other nursery stock, be sure
roots are not allowed to become dry while out of the
ground. Dig hole large enough to receive roots in
natural: position and deep enough to leave branches
just at, the surface. Cover roots with good soil,
using care to pack firmly around the roots, put in
water enough to thoroughly dampen the soil and
after water settles complete the filling, leaving top
soil loose. Trim tops to within five or six inches of
the surface. Irrigate sufficient to keep soil moist
to the tips of the roots but not enough to maintain
a sodden condition.
PRICE, except as otherwise noted—40c each;
$2.25 per 6; $4.00 per 12; $15.00 per 50.
