?^Jg£!EL^!P_!T OR AGE facilities located i mile south of Rogers on highways 71 and 62

Where We Ar& We are located in Arkansas— in the north-
c irrc y-ifc west corn e r county (Benton), only twelve
miles south of the Missouri line and twenty-six miles east of the
Oklahoma line; eighty-one miles almost due north of Fort Smith,
Arkansas, and eighty-three miles, almost due south of Joplin, Mis-
souri ; one hundred twenty-nine miles east of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and
one hundred six miles southwest of Springfield, Missouri. On
Federal highways 71 and 62, just south of Rogers, Arkansas.

ON THE TIP TOP OF THE OZARK MOUNTAINS where
our growing season is almost thirty days shorter than at Fort Smith,
Arkansas. Our summers are short and nights are cool, and our
growing season more like that of North Missouri, Iowa and Ne-
braska, than Eastern and Southern Arkansas.

Hence, our stock is well adapted to the extreme Northern,
Eastern and Western States as well as being the best for Southern
States.

DON'T WAIT — ORDER TODAY.

— WHY DO EXPERIMENT STATIONS, AGRICULTURAL COLLEGES
AND FRUIT GROWERS RECOMMEND FALL BUYING? Because you can
buy this Fall and have the stock shipped to you and "heel it in" so that you may
plant at the most favorable time during Fall, Winter, or next Spring.

Fall planting is becoming more popular each season as experience shows its
advantage. As soon as a tree or shrub becomes dormant it can be removed and
change of location will affect it but little. When set out in the Fall the bruised
roots begin at once to heal and callus is formed; recover quickly from moving;
soon become firmly established and with the first touch of Spring are ready to
go into business for themselves in a vigorous way.

Again, the ground is usually in better condition for planting in the Fall
than in Spring, for much Spring planting is done when the ground is too wet for
best results. Perhaps your Spring will be two or three weeks earlier. In this
case your trees should be planted earlier than the dates you have oredred them
shipped. If they have been planted in the Fall, these Spring delays are done
away with.

YOUNGBERRY

The new Youngberry has achieved the greatest
success ever scored by any of the berry family.
It not only bears very heavily but the fruit is
easy to handle; it is very attractive, ships well,
keeps well and cans well. It has so many com-
mercial possibilities and it fits in so well in
the home garden that everybody should be in-
terested in having a few vines or a commercial
planting.

Youngberries are among the largest berries,
of dark wine color, h*ve a minimum of seed,
highly flavored and yield a rich looking cherry
colored juice. You will find that more fruit
will be produced from a few Youngberry bushes

than any otherson the same amount of ground.

Youngberries thrive where any other berry fruits

grow but do best in states of the same latitude

as Ohio and South.

ORIENTAL ORCHIDS OF THE GARDEN

(IRIS KAEMPFERI

Your garden is not complete until you have this beautiful flower grow-
ing in your perennial collection. Now you can grow your own Orchids
by planting Iris Kaempferi, which is entirely different from all other
Iris and comes into bloom as the early summer fades, continuing to
bloom until mid-July. The huge blooms of velvety texture measure 6
to 8 inches across. The leaves are long, narrow and gracefully formed,
and the plants remain decorative even after the blooming period is
over. It is no wonder that the Kaempferi is called the "Orchid of the
Garden." Excellent for cutting it will grow 3 to 4 feet high. Plants
thrive in well drained fertile soil(it is fatal to select a location wher
water stands during winter). Should be planted this fall for blooms
next summer.

CRAB APPLES

for All Climates

Crab Apples are especially desirable m
the colder sections as only a few varieties
of apples can be successfully grown; but
they succeed well in all climates and their
fruit is very popular for preserves, jelly,
and some sorts are excellent for eating.
FLORENCE— The finest of the Crab
Apples. Tree of rather small size, coming
into bearing when very young and pro-
ducing heavily; the fruit setting in clus-
ters. The apples will measure about an
inch or slightly more in diameter; golden
yellow with a bright cheek, or almost en-
tirely red. The flesh is firm, fine grain-
ed and exceedingly juicy with that dis-
tinct snappiness so relished in a crab
apple.

RED SIBERIAN— Fruit about an inch in
diameter, brilliant yellow with an attrac-
tive red cheek; very juicy and excellent
for jellies, preserves and pickles. The
tree becomes a very large size.

NEW WHETSTONE

APPLE

A Ben Davis by Jonathan cross, which in turn
was crossed with Delicious. Originated at the
Missouri State Fruit Experiment Station at
Mountain Grove, Mo. The fruit is large, well col-
ored, uniform in size and shape, keeps extremely
well. The fruit i? red with darker obscure stripe
of medium width. Has greenish yellow back-
ground, but colors well all over when ripe.

The tree is vigorous, has large leaves, long
apple stems and thick twigs. Produces large reg-
ular crops of high percentage of smooth apples.
The finest baking apple we have ever known.
Latest ripening apple to pick. October to June.
The most interesting characteristic is its ability to
hang on the tree and continue to grow and color
after most all other commercial varieties drop.

Don't fail to order at least one of these
trees this fall. Our supply is very
limited. We can furnish 3 to

N. N. Straley and grand-daughter
showing height of 12c apple trees
that were planted only last spring.

Seattle, Wash.

Aug. 5, 1947.
Benton County Nursery
Rogers, Ark.
Gentlemen :

Last spring I ordered 12 apple
trees of the 12c size. These trees
were pruned back when I planted
them and I am surprised at their
phenomenal growth. I am enclos-
ing a picture of the trees. They are
now 44 inches. The trees have
grown so strong and symetrical and
have such large healthy looking
leaves that I must say I am more
than pleased with them.

Sincerely,
N. N. Straley.

color. Bears heavily.

beautiful red apple. Excellent for baking. The

RHUBARB (Pie Plant)

CULTURE — Good plants are easily grown in any
good soil. Plant four feet apart each way, in deep,
warm and very rich soil. The more "manure the
better the stalk. For winter forcing, take up two-
year roots in fall, leave out to freeze, then bed
close together on cellar bottom or under green-
house bench in the dark.

GIANT VICTORIA— This is one of the greatest
and most valuable vegetables we have ever offer-
ed. It is the earliest, tenderest, sweetest and best
of all rhubarbs; fit for use in early spring, sum-
mer and all fall, while the common or sour sorts
are fit for use only a few weeks in the spring. The
stalks are twice the size of the ordinary kind, and
of a bright, crimson color, very tender, crisp and
of mild, delightful flavor; the skin is so tender it
does not have to be removed when cooking and the
Sauce has a deep crimson color. Stalks will aver-
age 10 to 24 inches long; broad, thick and solid;
stalks will weigh on an average one-half pound
each and often weigh a full pound.

JUJUBE (Hardy Chinese Date)

The Chinese Date (Jujube or Zizyphus) is a
fruit from the high interior of China. The
tree is a heavy and constant bearer and com-
mences to bear at an early age, four-year-old
trees having produced 150 pounds of fruit. It
blooms very late in the spring, avoiding all
danger from spring fr6sts. The fruit is one
to two inches long, and chocolate colored. It is
delicious when eaten fresh or cured like dates,
and is excellent for preserves and jam. Cook-
ed in a sugar syrup and allowed to dry, it be-
comes a most tasty and palatable confection
which we believe will eventually rival the date
as a commerical product. Every home should
have one or more trees, It likes a clean back
yard where it is not cultivated but will grow
anywhere.
