AULIEU’S HARDY, WHITE: ONION

sa Q“mem SH Pe
—fn m= > mS

Copyrighted 1901, by Henri Beaulieu, Seedsman and Florist, Woodhaven, N.Y. Electros, $2.00.

HIS ONION originated six years ago from the White Portugal Onion and has stood
the test all over the country. As a vegetable, it is a great acquisition. For the
mInarket gardener it should prove the most profitabie onion to grow, as it can be
ready for the market two weeks before any other, even when grown from sets,
and can be produced much cheaper.

The seed may be sown any time from July 15 to September 15,
Culta ral 2 in the same latitude as New York ‘Transplant as soon as large

2 7 enough to handle, say about October 15, or seed may be sown

Directions in rows and when large enough the young plants may be thinned

out and remain through the winter, but the better method is to
transplant. This is the best onion to eat, has a good flavor, and can be used for slicing or
cooking. It is very attractive and sells easily.

Another method of culture is to sow the seed on a hot bed in February and then treat
the same as is done to summer sown onions, giving a little protection from the cold when
necessary.

As there are many so-called Hardy Winter Onions on the market, be sure to secure the
genuine Hardy White Onion, from the introducer only.

Price per lb., $2.50; per oz., 20c.; per packet, 10c.

GOLD MEDAL PANSY

The Pansy Wonder of the Age.

MME. PERRET.

I am Sole Agent in the United States for [lme. Perret Pansy
Seeds, and have cultivated this Pansy for the past six years on my
Trial Ground at Woodhaven, N. Y. Received for an exhibit of this
Pansy an Honorable Mention from the N. Y. Florists’ Club on May 13,
1901, and May 12, 1902, and the success of the seeds all over this
country has been wonderful.

ITS SUPERIOR QUALITIES.

The New Giant Madame Perret is a wonder and a novelty; it is

speciaily distinguished from all
other pansies by the plant being full and spreading, with very broad and extremely
dark green leaves; the straight and stiff stems it possesses cause the flowers to
stand out well from the foliage. Thecolor of the blossom ranges through all the
shades of red, from a pink toa fine deep purple. with an intermediate bright red
edged with white. The face of the flower in some cases is regular in color, while in
others it is lined and striped.
The extraordinary size of the flowers, which reach as much as 3 to 3\% inches
in diameter, makes ita novelty of the first rank, and one that is sure to be sought
after by lovers of pansies.

BEAULIEU, Florist, Woodhaven, N. Y.

DEAR SIR:—The Pansy Seed you sent me last Fall of the Madaine Perret turned out remark-
ably fine. I planted them out at the Pan-American about the end of April and for two months
they were greatly admired. I have never seen finer market flowers, or a better form. They pro-
duced two beautiful beds.

Very truly yours, WILLIAM SCOTT.
