Important Instructions.

How to Send Money. Remittances should be made by Post
Office or Express Money Order, Bank Draft or Registered letter. Post-
tage Stamps will be received for small amounts. Remittance in any
other way at sender’s risk.

Be Sure to Sign Your Name and give Post Office and State.
And to avoid mistakes, do not write letters on same sheet with order.

Seeds Postpaid by Mail. We can send all vegetable and flow-
er seeds in quantities of one pound or less by mail, postpaid, to any
office in the Unlted States at the price named in this Catalogue, un-
less otherwise stated.

Prepay Stations. When you send in orders to go by freight
or express, be sure that you add money enough to pay freight char-
ges if your station is a prepay, which is always where there is no reg-
ular agent.

Large Orders. Any dealer, market gardener, institution or
individual, wishing seed in large quantities is requested to mail us a
list of what is wanted and we will promptly return it with the very
lowest markei price. A letter of inquiry may save you dollars, if you
want to buy in quantity.

Dwarf or Bush Beans---Green Podded.

Stringless Green Pod. A very valuable green podded variety, absolutely
stringless. Is very early, pods are long, rather round, very fleshy. Fine for

Early Long Yellow Six Weeks. A long podded green variety with medium
sized pods; heavy producer. Pound 15c, 10 lbs $1.

Extra Early Refugee. A very early variety with medium sized pods, fleshy

Extra Early Red Valentine. A popular variety. Erect vine, pods of me-
dium length, fleshy, round, with only slight strings. Pound 15c, 10 lbs. $1.

Dwarf Horticultural. A very vigorous variety; used as a shell bean or as

Castor Beans. Used for medicinal purposes, and claimed to keep moles

Wax Podded Bush Beans.

Davis White Wax. The most hardy and productive wax podded variety.
The pods are long and yellow, and while not stringless, it is a good bean for
the market and home. Pound 15c, 10 lbs. $1.25.

Golden Wax. One of the most popular garden varieties in cultivation.
Pods are long, nearly straight, broad and flat; golden yellow. Pound 15c, 10
Ibs. $1.25.

Challenge Black Wax. One of the standard wax beans, of excellent qual-

Pole Beans---Green and Wax Podded.

Kentucky Wonder, or Asparagus. The most popular of the pole varieties
for both garden and market. It grows luxuriantly and bears for a long time.
Pods are very long, very fleshy and deeply creased; green in color and string-

Lazy Wife. A green podded variety bearing long pods in clusters. String-

White Dutch Case Knife. A climbing variety with long flat pods which

White Creaseback. An early green podded variety; pods five to six inches
long, deeply creased and borne in clusters. Very fleshy and stringless; beans

Scarlet Runner. The well known and old fashioned climber. Bright scar-
let flowers. Also used as a shell bean. Lb 25c.

Lima Beans.
Burpee’s Bush. The best dwarf variety. Very prolific, pods and beans

Large White. A very good variety of the pole type. Is very prolific and

Field Beans. .
Oregon Tree Beans. A navy bean that is adapted for this climate. A
heavy producer and all ripen at the same time. Lb 15c, 10 lbs $1.

Royal Dwarf Kidney. This bean is large, long and slightly curved. Early
and does fine here. Fine flavored. Lb 10ec, 10 lbs 85ce.

Lady Washington. This small white bush bean is a great improvement
over the old navy bean. A very heavy yielder and suitable for the valley.

Table Varieties.

Early Eclipse. A fine early table variety, globe
shaped, flesh deep crimson, zoned with pink. Pkt 5c, oz

Crimson Blood Turnip. A good variety for summer
dfalluse. Is turnip shaped with bright red flesh

Extra Early Egyptian. A turnip shaped variety
with dark red flesh showing zones of lighter color. Very

Half Long Blood. A _ half long variety, growing
about eight inches long. Very rich, deep red flesh of

Long Blood Beet. A very desirable sort for light
soils acts roots are easy to dig. Flesh deep blood red. Pkt 5c, oz 10c, qr lb

Swiss Chard.

Or Sea Kale Beet. Cultivated for its leaves and leaf stalk, which are pre-
pared and served similar to asparagus. Tender anddeticious, Pkt 5c, oz. 10c,

Stock Beets and Mangels.

_ Mammoth Long Red. Grows to a very large size and makes fine feed,

Golden Tankard. A very large mangel, growing about half out of the
ground. Considered the best for dairy farming. Oz 5c, qr lb luc, lb 25c.

Yellow Globe. Roots immense size and fine shape. Well adapted to shal-

Yellow Giant or Gate Post. Roots very large, growing about one half
out of the ground. Flesh white. A heavy producer. Oz 5c, qr lb 10c, lb 25c.

New Mangel Half Sugar. This is one of the finest stock beets on the
market, and gives fine satisfaction. It is sweeter than the mangels and stock
eat it more readily. Roots larger than the sugar beets. Oz 5c, grlb 10c, lb 25c.

French Sugar Beet. The most popular variety. Flesh white and tender.
Fine for table use when young. A great stock feed. Oz 5c, qr lb 10c lb 25c.

BRUSSELS SPROUTS

Dwarf Improved. A carefully grown strain, very hardy, and giving com-
pact round sprouts of large size and good quality. Pkt 5c, oz 15c, qr lb 40c.

Broccoli is very much like cauliflower in general appearance and growth,
but is hardier and will stand more cold and frost. Produces fine heads from late
in the fall until spring, according to time plants are set out. It is a very prof-
itable crop, and is now being planted extensively. Culture same as for cauliflower.

Large White French. A valuable variety, with large white heads, firm

CABBAGE

CULITURE.—For the earliest supply seed may be sown in Septem-
ber and the plants wiutered over in coldframes, or seed started in hot
beds or coldframes early in the spring. For the fall crop seed should
be sown early in June and the young plants transplanted te the ro~s
during the latter part of July. In planting be sure to set the young
plants down to the first leaves.

One ounce of seed will sow 300 feet of drill; 4 ounces sown thin-
ly should provide plants enough for one acre.

Farly Varieties.

Early Jersey Wakefield. The favorite early cabbage with market gar-
deners. Heads are of a good size, solid, a sure header and always give satis-

Chantenay. The market gardener’s favorite. Color, deep orange. Flesh

Danver’s Half Long. The smooth, handsome roots are orange, of medium

Ox Heart. A thick carrot, 5 or 6in. long and very blunt at lower end. A
favorite of market gardeners. Oz 5c, qr lb 15c, lb 60c.

Long Orange. One of the best kinds for stock feeding. A heavy yielder.

Large White Belgian. Grown for stock feeding. Very productive. Grows

Large White Mastodon. Grows to a large size and makes a fine feed.

Yellow Giant. The earliest and most productive stock carrot known. Pkt

Red Saint Valery, or New Intermediate. A little jonger than Danver’s, ta-
pering abruptly, with pointed root. A very desirable, long variety, and rather
preferable to Long Orange, being thicker at the shoulder and not so long. Col-

SEED CORN

For several years we have made a specialty of Selected Seed Corn. This
year we offer a better and larger variety than ever before, including several
new kinds that will be money makers for the grower that will try them.
few years ago it was said that corn could not be raised here, but as you now
travel about the valley you see large fields that yield from 40 to 80 bushels of
well matured corn.

Sweet or Sugar.

Golden Bantan® The sweetest and richest corn ever grown. The most
delicious corn ever tasted. Dwarf in growth, and can be planted closer than
most varieties. Very hardy. Order early, as we have only a small amount of

Peep O’ Day. Ten days earlier than any other white sweet corn. Sweet,
early and productive. A great corn for this valley. Lb 15c.

First of All. It matures from three days to a week ahead of the Cory.
Very dwarf. Best to sow in drills. Lb 10c.

Mammoth Early Corn. An early kind with a very large ear. Sweet, ten-
der and fine for the market. Lb 10c, 10 lbs 85c.

Early White Corn. An extra white variety with remarkably white grains
Kars of six to seven inches long and of good quality. ‘Lb 10c, 10 lbs 85e.

Early Minnesota. The old favorite. The best early variety for the home
garden and the market. Stalks about five feet high, ears long and eight row-

Country Gentleman. One of the best late varieties. Fine flavored and

Stowell’s Evergreen. THE Most POPULAR AND BEST LATE VARIETY.
Fine for table use and is used also for fodder for stock and ensilage. The most
productive corn grown. Six to eight feet high, and remains in condition to use
for a long time. Lb 10c, 10 lbs 85c.

White Evergreen. Very similar to Stowell’s, but has the quality of being __
snow white. A very fine variety. Lb 10c, 10 lbs 85ce. Ihity RE

Early Evergreen. About ten days earlier than Stowell’s and a trifle smaller
ear. Of the best quality and fine to plant for a second crop. Lb 10c, 10 lbs 85c.

Field Corn.

Oregon Yellow Dent. We make a pecialty of Oregon seed corn ard ha e
the largest trade in the State. If you want corn that is sure to ripen, plant

CORN

Pride of The North. The best variety for fodder and ensilage. Grows
to a good height. Lb 5c, 10 lbs 40c, 100 Ibs $3.75.

King of The Earlies. An extra large yellow dent that is suitable for this
climate. It isa great producer and is fine for both corn and fodder. It cer-
tainly will pay you to try this great new variety. Lb 5c, 10 Ibs 40c, 100 lbs $3.75.

Champion White Pearl. A large, late variety, with pearly white kernels.
Very popular with dairymen on account of the great amount of feed that it
makes. Lb 5c, 10 lbs 40c, 100 lbs $2.75.

Leaming. A very popular, tall growing variety. Is early; stalks are

leafy, making fine fodder. Kernels are long and deep golden yellow. Lb 5c,
10 lbs 40c, 100 lbs $3.75.

If you want a Corn that will Ripen Every Year, try the Flint Corn.
Sandford White Flint. An early tall variety, bearing large ears, which
are well filled with pure white kernels. Pkt 5c, 10 lbs 45c, 100 lbs $4.25.
King Phillip. An extremely early red corn that does well here. Ears long
and well filled. Has been raised here for years. Lb 5c, 10 lbs 45c, 100 lbs $4.25.
Longfellow. A yellow flint corn that produces a fine, large, long ear.
Will ripen any season. Fine for feed. Lb 5c, 10 lbs 45c, 100 lbs $4,25.

Canada Flint. An eight row, very early corn that does fine here. Fine

3 Pop Corn.
White Rice. The old favorite. Does well here. Lb10c. . ;
Queen’s Golden. A very beautiful new corn that is very productive. Lb 10c

Cucumbers.

In this latitude it is useless to plant in the open ground until nearly the first
of May. Make hills two feet in diameter and about six feet apart, and enrich
them with well rotted manure. Plant a dozen or more seeds, covering half an
inch deep, When all danger from insects is over, pull all but three or four of
the strongest plants. One ounce for fifty hills; two pounds per acre when
planted in hills. Pkt 5c, oz 10c, lb $1, except as noted.

Early Short Green or Early Frame. An excellent sort
for both table and pickling. Small and early.

Timothy. This is the most valuable of all grasses for hay. Sow early in

English Rye Grass. A strong growing, hardy perennial grass, noted for

italian Rye Grass. A quick growing grass, attaining a height of two and

Cow Kale (or Thousand Headed Kale.) Recommended by agricultural

tle and horses. Especially recommended for green feed during the dry sum-

Secticn Honey Boxes

Our No. 1 sections are made of the choicest white basswood lumber, and
are perfect in finish, and free from defects. They are not all snow white, but
vary from that to a light cream color. Choice honey shows off to best advan-
tage in a section not to white,-as it is the honey rather than the wood that the

Arsenate of Lead

_ The Great Summer Spray. Arsenate of Lead is the great spray for cod-
ling moth, the canker worm, caterpiliars, grape insects, rose bugs, etc. It is
the specific remedy against all leaf eating insects. Arsenate of Lead is a most
concentrated form of arsenical poison, putup in the shape of a heavy, dense
white paste, which mixes well with water, although not soluble. Its complete
insolubilty makes it perfectly safe to apply at any strength without burning
the foliage. In this and its great adhesive qualities lies its superiority to Paris
Green and other insecticides. It is mixed with water at the rate of two or

Granulated Bone. Bone is an indispensible food for poultry, and should be
kept before them. Our bone is made from fresh green bones, from which the
moisture and grease have been taken, leaving nothing but the phosphates,
lime and protein. These are the only food values of bone, green or dry. Ten

We handle everything usually carried in any Feed and Seed store

Grain Rolling.

We have a large power roller, and do a large amount of custom
