apparently free from the San Jose scale and other dangerous insects and dangerous plant diseases.

Hill’s Standard Transplanted Evergreens
Good Hill quality Evergreens do not just happen. We put the Hill Quality into them
deliberately in numerous ways. First — Our soil and climate is ideal for Evergreen culture.
Second — We develop the strength and vitality of our stock (so necessary for successful removal
and shipment) — by actually root-pruning and transplanting at definite intervals. Third — By
our system of digging, handling and packing whereby Hill’s Evergreens can travel the longest
distance with safety. Hill’s Evergreens are always freshly dug, generously graded and carefully
packed. You get no culls, as they are consigned to the brush pile.

Hill’s Specimen Evergreens and Conifers
B & B — Balled and Burlapped
These trees are all perfect specimens, having good roots owing to frequent transplanting.
Always freshly and carefully' dug. No extra charge for Ball and Burlap. To satisfy the increas-
ing demand, a large acreage in our Nursery is devoted to the growing of Specimen Evergreens
to be handled with Ball and Burlap. This stock is all grown in wide rows with plenty of room
to develop both root and top. Each tree is staked to insure symmetrical growth and at regular
intervals throughout the growing season trimming and pruning is done by men of long experience
in this line. We keep this stock on the move also, transplanting every two years, as a root system
can be developed in no other way, and in Evergreens, roots are the basis of success.

HilTs Choice Decorative Stock
There are different qualities of Boxwoods and Bay Trees just as there are different qualities
of roses, carnations, silks, calicoes, etc. Do not be fooled by low prices; there is always plenty of
cheap or inferior stock on the market to be had almost for the asking, but quality Boxwoods and
Bay Trees, grown properly and handled right, always command a fair price. Hill Boxwoods and
Bay Trees are the business building kind. You will not be disappointed. They are the cream of
especially selected stocks, grown for high-class trade. Satisfaction guaranteed. When you want
“quality” Boxwoods, Bay Trees and other decorative stock, come to Hill’s. Large and complete
stock always on hand. For convenience of customers, Boxwoods are offered both with and
without tubs. The tubs are neat in appearance, new, sound and substantial, painted green. In
no case are old or second hand tubs used.
