CHRYSANTHMEUMS

New Varieties
“CELEBRATION”

Sent to the committee November 11th, hence the name; scored
91 points, commercial. This variety will supplant the Yellow Eaton
and also Mrs. M. R. Morgan, as it is far superior to Yellow Eaton
in color, being a brilliant golden yellow, and it has better foliage
than Mrs. Morgan, the leafage being carried well up to the flower:
the form is an improvement on both ancestors. A fine example
of the commercial incurved, with broad, horizontal lower florets
which give it an imposing effect.

Prices: 2^ inch, $15.00 per 100; $120.00 per 1000,

flowers are always scarce.

The fine form and graceful spread make it noticeably valuable.
Late November and during December.

HOSE

One of the newer brands, but now of several years’ standing
and increasing in popularity every season. No duck is used in the
construction of this hose; but all the plies are braided circularly
from special threads, each braiding being separate and having a
distinct layer of rubber between. It is exceedingly durable, and
possesses great flexibility, being practically unkinkable — a com-
mon cause of failure in Garden Hose. Magic Garden Hose is regu-
larly made in continuous 500-foot pieces, so that any length desired
can be obtained without the necessity of splicing out with couplings

RED CROSS (Peter Fisher)

Under date of December 17, 1918, Mr. Fisher writes us as fol-
lows :

Ellis, Mass., December 17, 1918.

S. S. Skidelsky & Co., Philadelphia, Pa.:

Just thought that perhaps you might be wondering how “Red
Cross Carnation was doing with us this season. I feel sure,
could you see it, that it would please you. The stock is in excel-
lent condition, has been in continuous bloom since early Fall, and
promises to keep right along. It is in heavy demand in Boston,
and they like it because of its splendid keeping qualities. Brighter
than “Beacon” flowers, of a medium and uniform size, stems long
and blooms stand perfectly erect; no splits or “seconds” unless on
a weak or defective shoot.

$13.00 per 100; $100.00 per 1000. Disseminated in January, 1920

Owing to the unsettled business conditions, and to the extreme
scarcity of stock of all kinds, prices are being changed from time
to time without notice. You may rest assured, however, that under
no circumstances will we take advantage of our customers. We
abhor the very idea of profiteering, and if prices should seem to
you exorbitant, the fault is not to be laid at our doors. It is
supply and demand that regulates prices.

We need hardly reiterate that it is our aim to satisfy our
patrons and thereby maintain their confidence in our business
integrity. “It pays to be honest” may sound trite, but it is true
nevertheless.

Write us at any time and we shall be pleased to answer your
letters.

If your goods reach you in damaged condition you must
assume that the stock sent left the place in good order. As a
matter of justice both to ourselves and our growers supplying our
stock you should put in your claim with the Express Company. It
is up to the Express Company to pay for the damage caused by its
own carelessness. They will pay if you press the claim. We can-
not be held responsible for the carelessness of an Express Cam-
pan y.
