LEE R. BONNEWITZ
VAN WERT, OHIO
I like to sell Peonies in collections, because by bunch-
ing my orders so that my men can spend a whole day
digging and shipping one particular set of varieties, they
can take care of three times as many orders as if they had
to continually wander over the garden, digging a root
here and a root there, spending more time in the search
for individual sorts than in the actual digging. This
saving in time and effort allows me to quote entire col-
lections at much lower prices than if the individual varie-
ties in the collection were purchased separately.
Long Lost Peony Collections
Each “Long Lost Peony Collection’' will contain
a Bonnewitz Strong One Eye Division of LADY
ALEXANDRA DUEF, which was the very finest
Peony I saw in all England last year. As I remember,
the price for it in Kelway’s garden, where it was orig-

Jubilee Collections
JUBILEE, the famous prize winner of two National
Peony Shows, is essentially a “show” Peony, or rather
a Peony for cut flowers, because it produces such a wealth
of large white blooms of feathery formation, that its
stems are unable to support their weight. A large plant
of it needs artificial support, but the pleasing blooms well
merit this extra attention. Eor years Peony lovers have
been looking forward to the time when this variety
would be priced so attractively that it could be placed
in their gardens. I believe that time has arrived and I
am offering it with other choice varieties in collections
at a price which places it within the reach of even the
modest gardener.

Beginners^ Collections
It always pleases me to make up a collection of varie-
ties for a beginner, because while doing it I can, in my
imagination, feel his enthusiasm as he first beholds his
Peonies unfolding their beauty in his own garden. I
know if his first Peonies are a success, he will very soon
want a still wider range of beauty, and so in making the
selections for the Beginners’ Collections I have looked
far beyond the present sale, into the future when the
purchaser will be asking for JEANNOT, PRESIDENT
WILSON and ALICE HARDING.
