ATTENTION! IMPORTANT!

This is what Mr. Chas. E. F. Gersdorff wrote of my Chautauqua
Red in his Garden Note of Gladiolus in October number, 1922.

Chautauqua Red, brilliant flame scarlet, fine for cutting, brilliant
in the garden. Spike strong and slender, 46 in., 12 to 18 blooms.
Fairly compact to compact, many open SV2 in, wide, open excellent
substance blooming 8-12 days, cormels prolific. Planted 5-18-22 and
bloomed 7-28-22. X X X X

And this is what Mrs. Howard of the Lakeview Rose Gardens,
one of the largest concerns in the U. S., says:

“Give me no other Red but Chautauqua Red; it looks like a
bonfire, and I never had so much attraction in the windows.”

This is what Prof. A. C. Beal of Cornell University, Ithaca, N. Y.,
wrote about the four Primulinus we sent him for the trial gardens:

August 8, 1922.

Mr. C. Zeestraten:

Your varieties of Gladiolus have been blooming recently.

I am very certain that Gladiolus Chautauqua Red, Gladiolus
Primulinus Loveliness, are worthy of registration. August 14,
1922, I am preparing certificate for Jewell, Loveliness, and
Chautauqua Red. In regard to Sunrise would say that I shall be
pleased to register it because the stock was fine. The question in
our minds was whether Liberty and Sunrise was sufficiently
distinct for us to register both of them. We agree that Sunrise
is a little better than Liberty. I hope that it may be possible for
you to exhibit your varieties at Kalamazoo, and hope that your
Primulinus varieties which have always been of decided merit
may win the coveted certificates.

This is what Raymond Champe wrote me :

“Last year you sent me some Jewell; this is the finest blend Glad.
I ever saw; book me for 300 bulbs.” This year he wrote: “I was so
astonished about the increase that I decided to give them another,
trial, with the result that I have given Jewell the place by the six
best varieties.”

Gladiolus Primulinus

Not enough can be said about these elegant and beautiful strains
of gladiolus, but they must be Primulinus; the stem must be in pro-
portion to the flower. We have kept our strain Primulinus, and also
kept the elegantness and the rare and beautiful oriental colors; and
for that reason we have one of the finest and unequalled collections in
existence. They are not much seen as yet, but they are the coming
gladiolus. Not that they will displace the large hybrids varieties, but
the demand will increase very fast and steadily, as nothing is more
beautiful than a vase or centerpiece of these gladiolus.

And just the same as with any other strain of flowers, one form
is more artistically or better shaped than the other, and so the same
with the colors, and therefore the most of the varieties have the
advantage over the mixture.

They are strong growers and rapid multipliers, and a great many
bulblets blossom the first year. Our Primulinus were awarded first
prizes at the shows in Buffalo, Detroit and New York.

We advise anybody to buy a few, and they will never regret it.
