MIXSON’S EARLIEST OF ALL TOMATO

W. H. Mixson Seed Company

Largest Wholesale Seedsmen Southeast
Charleston, S. C.

This Catalog is issued principally for the benefit of Truck Farmers and Market
Gardeners — men who depend for their living’ on Truck crops, and to whom therefore
Good Seeds is a matter of vital importance. No matter how high grade the fertilizer,
or how thorough the preparation and cultivation, or how ideal the season, the best
results cannot be obtained without the best seeds, and it is to the type of farmer who
understands this fact that MIXSON’S SEEDS appeal.

To the Home Gardener, Mixson’s Seeds are equally valuable, and if the Truck
Farmer can invest his thousands in them, the Home Gardener can likewise place his
dependence in them. There is no need for the planting of seeds of unknown quality,
when MIXSON’S are so easily obtainable.

ABOUT PRICES — They are the ones prevailing when this Catalog goes to press,
but are strictly subject to change. If an advance takes place, we wil notify you before
making shipment. IN ORDERING FROM THIS CATALOG, BE SURE TO STATE
THAT YOU ARE USING THESE PRICES. Terms are Cash with order, but to re-
sponsible parties we will ship C. O'. D. Prices are F. O. B. Charleston, meaning that
on freight and Express shipments you pay the charges. If there is no Agent at your
shipping point, freight and express must be prepaid. On Parcel Post shipments, post-
age must be added. In sending us remittances, please figure this up, and remember
to include otherwise, there will be a delay, or shipment will be made by Express collect-

Located as we are in a Trucking section, as well as being in close touch with many
other sections, we appreciate fully the needs of the Truck Farmer, and are trying to give
service he will recognize. It is, however, impossible for us to guarantee results, and
therefore we give no warranty express or implied as to description, quality, productive-
ness or any other matter of any seeds we send out, and will not be responsible for the
crop. If they are not accepted on these terms they are at once to be returned.

MIXSON'S SELECTED SEED POTATOES

GROWN FROM THE VERY BEST SELECTED STOCKS, IN SECTIONS ES-
PECIALLY ADAPTED TO THEIR PRODUCTION, RIGIDLY INSPECTED WHILE
GROWING, CAREFULLY ISOLATED TO PREVENT MIXTURE, CLOSELY
ROGUED IN THE FIELD TO TAKE OUT ANY OFF TYPES AND DISEASED
STOCK THAT MAY SHOW UP, PAINSTAKINGLY HARVESTED AND STORED,
THEN AFTER ALL THIS DOUBLY INSPECTED AND PASSED BY UPON ARRI-
VAL IN CHARLESTON,— OUR SEED POTATOES REPRESENT STOCK AS
NEAR PERFECTION AS IT IS HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO GET THEM.

Cheaper potatoes can of course be gotten, but we are quite certain that any dif-
ference in price will mean difference in quality. The best proof of the value of our
Seed Potatoes is the large number of the biggest Truck Farmers who buy from us in
car lots and over each year, in the face of lower quotations.

ALL OF OUR MAINE GROWN STOCK BEARS PATHOLOGIST’S TAG CERTI-
FYING AS TO PURITY AND METHOD OF HANDLING.

IRISH COBBLER (MAINE GROWN) -The standard early white variety for the
South. Potatoes are roundish, with deep eyes and well developed eye-lid. Per peck
60c; per bushel 1.85; per sack 4.25; 10 sacks at 4.00.

IRISH COBBLER (WESTERN GROWN)— Some people in recent years have
been of the opinion that a larger yield could be obtained from Western grown stock
than Maine grown, and results in most cases that have come under our observation have
borne this out. We, however, would like to see results another year before definitely
committing ourselves on this subject. The stock we have was personally selected in
the fields by Mr. W. H. Mixson. All of the general Cobbler characteristics found in
Maine  stock  appear  also  in  the  Western.  Per  peck  60c;  per  bushel  1.85;  per  sack  4.25;
10 sacks at 4.00.

EARLY NORTHER (MAINE GROWN)— A potato of the Rose type which has
proved very popular wherever grown. They are longish and inclined to be flattish
rather than roundish. About a week later than the Cobbler, with in nearly every case
larger yields than from Cobblers planted at the same time on the same land. There are
a number of Rose types, and this strain should not be confused with Spalding Rose,
Holton  Rose,  Early  Rose  or  simply  “Rose”  generally  offered.  Peck  60c;  bushel  1.85;
sack 4.25; 10 sacks at 4.00.

RED BLISS (MAINE GROWN)— The standard early red skin Potato for the
South. Tubers are roundish. Peck 60c; bushel 1.85; sack 4.25; 10 sacks at 4.00.
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN — The variety best adapted to summer planting throughout
the South. Prices and all further information will be issued about June 15.

PRICES are all F. O. B. Charleston, no charge for cartage. Sacks contain 2*2
bushels or 150 pounds; a bushel is 60 pounds.

TO LARGE BUYERS — When this catalog gees to press in December, it is mani-
festly impossible to quote prices that will hold good during the entire season. We sug-
gest, therefore, that you write us when you are in the market, stating number of bags
you expect to buy.

FOR POTATO BUG AND BLIGHT CONTROL see page 16. The best time to
order these materials is when you buy your potatoes, because you are certain to use
some, and having them on hand is in the nature of insurance.

MIXSON’S TOMATOES

Mixson’s Earliest of Ail (See front cover illustration)

The earliest pink Tomato grown. Fruits are medium sized, ripening all over, even
to the stem end, and unusually free from cracks. Vines are sturdy and very prolific,
a quality not often found in an early variety. This is our own introduction, and every
effort is made to keep the stock pure. Numerous voluntary testimonials are in our files.

Livingston’s Globe :
