TESTIMONIALS
(Names on Request)
A customer from Joplin, Mo., writes under date of January
21, 1934:
Dear Sirs,
Am writing for your ’34 Price List as I am in, need of
a few more varieties, and want to thank you for the fine
stock and good count on the 200 divisions I received from
you folks last Spring. I thought my stock was good but
I give up and thanks a lot.
Another customer from Richmond, Va., dated January 22,
1934, writes as follows:
Gentlemen,
I am again writing asking for a Spring Price List as I
bought Dahlia roots from you last year and was very much
pleased with them. I am now making up my Spring list
and would like very much to have your Price List before
placing an order elsewhere.
A nice letter from a customer of Oklahoma City, Okla.,
dated March 4, 1933:
Dear Mr. Finger,
Your Balancing Budget Collection has been received and
I must say that they were the nicest tubers and best,
packed of any I have ever received during my 20 years of
Dahlia experience.
Last season to keep our Dahlia crew on the job we
offered many cutflower and garden varieties at the low
price of $5.00 per 100 rate and special collections at
extremely low prices.
Although the total income of stock sold equalled cost of
dividing, selecting, further handling and packing, the results
were decidedly unprofitable when production costs and
continued overhead expenses were considered, a fact realized
sooner than expected.
We dare state that no reputable Dahlia grower in the
U. S. can offer Dahlia roots at lower prices than our list
quotations for 1934 and stay in business if paying decent
wages for employment, and if offering selected stock for
sale and that means Selected A No. 1 divisions taken from
healthy field grown stock where stunts and sickly plants
are rogued out and destroyed and said stunts are not offered
and sold in root form at a low price in competition with
selected stock offered and sold by reputable and conscien¬
tious Dahlia Specialists.
Due to public demand and of creating employment
during the slack winter months, our 1933 retail collection
offers will be continued, but for reasons stated above are
compelled to raise trade list prices over 1933 levels on
certain standard varieties.
