SPECIALTIES

Japanese Flowering Cherries

Always the new and
unusual for those
who love fine
plant material

THE COTTAGE GARDENS

LANSING, MICHIGAN

Japanese

Rose-Flowering Cherries

Several years ago we began growing the different varieties
of Japanese Flowering Cherries. To our great delight we found
that the following varieties proved perfectly hardy in our
coldest winter. Thousands travel to Washington, D. C., every
spring to see the flowering cherries. You can now have them
in your own garden.

We graft our Japanese Cherries and plant them into the
open field without protection and this may be the reason
that our stock is so exceptionally hardy.

All plants offered are fresh-dug.

Ch inese Tree Wisteria

Chinese Wisteria grown in tree-form, one of the most ex¬
quisite plants for the garden, either as specimen in the lawn,
border, formal garden or as gateway.

We have a limited stock available and the plants will be
set with bloombuds.

6 foot stems, Balled and Burlapped, $10.00 each.

3 foot stems, Balled and Burlapped, $ 5.00 each.

We also can supply regular Wisteria Vines, 2 year No. 1,
bare root at 75c each.

Our Wisteria are grafted from flowering wood. These
plants can be raised quicker from seed but unfortunately
such stock often does not bloom within one's lifetime.

Chinese
Flowering
Crabapples

"At the other side of the
garden is another Crab
Apple, spreading its branches
above a group of delicately
flushed Tulips — that rise
from a waving sea of For¬
get-Me-Nots. All my Crab
Apple Trees have been at¬
tendant gatherings of Tulips
. . . "Louise Beebe Wilder in
"Colour in My Garden" . . .

Not only do these graceful plants add a profusion of color
to the garden in the spring, but also brighten up the fall
picture with brilliantly colored fruit in shades of green, yellow,
orange, scarlet, maroon and crimson.

Several years ago we began to see the value of these
Exquisite Flowering Trees for North American Gardens and
we have built up a collection that, we believe, will prove of
great interest to all lovers of fine plant material.

Exquisite Modern Peonies

— FOR SPRING (AND FALL) PLANTING —

"Had I but four square feet of ground at my disposal, I
would plant a peony in the center and proceed to wor¬
ship." — From "Paeonias in the Little Garden" — By Mrs.
Ed. Harding.

Peonies that are dug in the fall and kept dormant in our
Peony Storage over winter can be planted in early spring with
splendid results. We have found that many of our customers
who are making changes or additions to their garden in the
spring like to plant their peonies at the same time. We
therefore keep a good assortment ready for spring planting.

The fall planting season for peonies starts September first,
and they can be planted until the ground is frozen solid.

Guaranteed to give complete satisfaction and to be

True to Name.

SIZE OF ROOTS: We send out strong divisions with from

American Peony Society, from healthy plants not over three
years old, grown on soil that has not been used for Peony
