Extracts from a Few of the Hundreds of Let¬
ters We Receive Each Season from
Satisfied Customers
Georgia:
“We are pleased to advise that the shipment of Dogwood
arrived this morning in very good condition and sincerely
appreciate your prompt handling of this order. We were
under the impression that your stocks were dug and stored
in the heel bed and that you could make immediate ship¬
ment. You did, in so far as practical anyway, didn’t you?
“Thanking you again for the prompt service and with
best wishes, we are,” etc.
Virginia:
“Last fall I ordered from you 7,000 black walnut seedlings
to be shipped to my farm. This stock was duly received
and transplanted.
“I have just returned from an inspection of the farm,
including the acreage transplanted with walnuts, and it is
a pleasure to state to you that the acreage transplanted
with your stock measures up to the highest expectations of
the most optimistic forester, as this stock speaks for itself,
and its foliage is particularly outstanding and noticeable
when compared with two similar shipments received from
other nurseries.
“I am merely writing this letter thinking it might be
interesting for you to know the general favorable comments
throughout the community in which your stock was trans¬
planted.”
Texas:
“Received the shipment in fine shape. Thanks for the
extra shrubs. Will you please send me your new catalogue.”
Tennessee:
“Answering yours of the 17th, the plants arrived yester¬
day and by noon today will all have been planted, as we
had the holes already dug and fertilizer alongside, etc. May
I say that they were exceedingly well packed and beautiful
plants in every way, and you need not hesitate as a result
of this and previous experience, to use me as a reference.”
Indiana:
“We have just received the shipment of plants as per
order No. 17159. The plants were in excellent condition.
We appreciate the care with which the order was filled.”
Texas:
“Am inclosing check to pay for plants received a day or
two ago, and I thank you for your promptness in getting
them out to us. They seem all right and reached us in
good condition and we are selling them right along.”
Kentucky:
“Please find enclosed my personal check for shrubs or¬
dered. We are so pleased with all the shrubs and hope we
can each year order more.”

Forest Tree Seedlings, Shrubs

WOODS GROWN PLANTS
-•'ll
Due to the shortage on nursery-grown material
we are offering only a few items in the collected
plants. Many of these items cannot be secured in
nursery grown stock.
The stock offered below is not finished plants,
but is woods grown, collected stock from the moun¬
tains and forests, suitable for transplanting. Woods
grown or collected stock is not to be classed with
nursery grown or cultivated plants. We seldom
recommend Collected Stock, however, many of our
customers advise us that with Collected Stock they
have obtained satisfactory results. The prices are
certainly attractive.

COLLECTED NATIVE— WOODS GROWN
The small evergreens are gathered on the moun¬
tains, and only on damp days when the weather is
suitable. The small bare-root evergreens are pud¬
dled as gathered, packed light and shipped by ex¬
press unless otherwise instructed. Orders will be
booked subject to our ability to have them gath¬
ered. Do not expect them to all live and grow,
some of them will die under the most favorable
conditions.
