Amity. - Oregon
Box 43

We wish to thank our many friends for their patronage
during the past, and hope that we may be of service in
the future. Our aim is to send only strong, healthy plants
and to meet all r2asonable competition.

Many of the new varieties are wonderful creations,
masterpieces of the highest type, and we commend them
to your attention.

In obtaining our collection, we have endeavored to se-
lect the most attractive iris from hundreds of fine kinds,
and feel sure our selection affords a good range of color
from which our patrons can secure a satisfactory collec-
tion with which to beautify their home gardens and
grounds. With every order we send out we will send a
folder, *‘About Iris,’” which giyes some helpful hints
about the care and propagation of Iris, and also about
combating some of the pests which bother us by destroy-
ing much of what we work very hard to grow. We will
be glad to send our price list to any address on request.

THE NEW IRIS SOUTHERN PACIFIC

From its first appearance in our gardens, this beautiful
iris has been a strong, and very vigorous growing plant,
with leaves tall, smooth and strong, and with tall strong
stems well branched. The huge blooms are well placed,
and many reach a spread of nine inches. Both standards
and falls are inclined to curve and have a slight ruffle
around the edges. The standards have a strong midrib
and stand straight and almost closed. The falls are semi-
flaring, drooping enough at the outer edges to give the
bloom a very artistic appearance. Texture firm. Color, a
soft shade of rich lavender blue and has a delicate pink-
ish glow throughout under certain lights, with a light
area through the center, and the falls are penciled, dark-
er through the haft. The beard is orange at the base,
shading to lighter at the outer end. Blooms open two to
four atatime ona stem. The plants have withstood
freezing weather, wind and rain storms as well or better
than other large iris under same conditions. Blooming
period around thirty days. This is a gracious addition to
the iris family, and gives a full measure of beauty and
size and a soft pleasing pacific tone.

32 inches. Late bloomer. Each $5.00

THE NEW IRIS SO BIG TEXAS

This lovely Iris is a soft lavender blue, strong grower,
large well-formed blooms, and is similar to Southern
Pacific, but many think it a better iris. It has good fol-
iage and strong stems and the huge blooms are well
placed.

The standards are almost closed and falls are semi
flaring and slightly curyed which give the blooms an
artistic appearance,

Just another lovely addition to the large layender blue
kind.

Only 1 to a customer $8.00

Working among your flowers at least a little each day,
not enough to tire but just enough for good exercise and
sunshine, is a splendid way to maintain robust health,
and among your flowers you should have a lot of iris.
They are easy to grow, and are one of the most satisfac-
tory flowers.

Iris time again brings joy to all flower lovers and we
all like to get out our old hoes and dig in the good earth.
We presume that you are a confirmed gardener and that
you want the best of eyerything to beautify your home
and garden, and with that in view we have selected for
our sales stock the best and most attractive iris we could
find among hundreds of fine varieties.

There is nothing a gardener loves more than his or her
own flowers and we know that every iris lover gets more
out of Jife than many other hobby gardeners, so we want
you to look over this list carefully and see if there isn’t
something therein that you can use to further beautify
your garden and home.

In this list you will find colors ranging from the deep
purple WINNESHIEK to the lovely light blue GREAT
LAKES, and from the golden yellow GOLDEN HIND to
the soft creamy white ARCTIC, and from the coppery
ane GRAND CANYON, to the soft tan or buff FAR-

There are colors and shades to suit every one’s taste
and also prices to suit the pocket book, and the beauty
of the flower is not regulated by the price of the plant,
for many of the more moderately priced iris are as beau-
tiful as many cf the more expensive ones,

We do not attempt to compete with expensive catalogs
for our price list is plain, but we try to offer plants and
prices that compare favorably with those of other grow-
ers. We will meet all reasonable competition in prices.

We have arranged some very attractive collection bar-
gains for you that will saye you money and at the same
time give you some fine iris for your garden.

as outlined by our group arrangement.

THE AMERICAN IRIS SOCIETY

This splendid society is of the greatest interest to its
many members and we heartily recommend it to any
who have not yet joined.

The object of the organization is to encourage the
growing and propagation of iris and it publishes each
year four bulletins which gives much valuable informa-
tion along these lines.

It has an established scale by which new introduc-
tions are rated and appoints judges to rate each new iris
according to its merits.

Information regarding the society and the require-
ments for obtaining membership may be obtained from’
