THE COLE NURSERY CO.
700 ACRES
PAINESVILLE, OHIO
“ Everything That’s Good and Hardy”
IT IS GENERALLY RECOGNIZED AMONG THE NURSERY
TRADE THAT THE EQUIPMENT OF THE COLE
NURSERY CO. IS IDEAL
The most complete plant of its nature in America. Nurserymen con¬
stantly visit us to get equipment information. They realize that the
nursery product is a living thing and that it must be handled in the
most approved manner to give the success that is necessary to hold their
customers.
We have our own private water works and irrigating system and
every available improvement for producing the best stock possible,
handling and shipping it to reach purchasers in most satisfactory con¬
dition. We have our own machine shops for quickly handling repairs
to motors, sprayers, tractors, trucks, heat and water systems; railroad
cars run right to our great packing buildings and greenhouses.
RESPONSIBILITY
We endeavor to send our patrons the grade and quality of stock ordered.
We do not guarantee our products or assume any responsibility after they leave
our nursery, as conditions always exist over which we have no control. It is
understood, in case of error on our part, that we shall not be responsible for a
greater amount than the price paid.
TERMS
Two per cent off for cash before shipment on orders amounting to ten dol-
ars or more. To parties having satisfactory credit arrangement or account
with us, one per cent ten days, thirty days net.
No claims for rejections or deficiencies will be entertained unless made with¬
in ten days after arrival of goods.

COLE’S ROOT-PRUNED SHADE TREES
Are always in heavy demand with those careful buyers who want
only the best. Cole’s Spacing, which gives the trees ample room
to develop properly, is another reason for this demand.

1SS1 - COLE'S GOLD
7] S A GROWING CONCERN with a successful record
it is befitting at this time to say a few words about
progress.
of half a century
our fifty years of
In 1881 Mr. W. B. Cole who is still active as president of our Com¬
pany became part owner of a small nursery located at Painesville, Ohio.
From this small beginning with a few acres The Cole Nursery Co., by
fair dealing, quality stock and conscientious service has grown to be one
of the leading nurseries in the country, with 700 acres around Painesville,
Ohio, intensively cultivated and more being added.
To keep pace with the rapid increase in business a mammoth storage v
cellar containing over 50,000 square feet was erected in 1921, our green¬
house and propagating facilities quadrupled, modern machinery for rapid
and economical handling of stock installed, and a large fleet of trucks put |
in service to expediate deliveries. \
We are today propagating and growing a complete line of nursery
stock in a center of the industry where climate and the soil are unexcelled
for growing all kinds of hardy nursery stock and where experienced help
is always available.
COLE'S TREE MOVING £

To our customers who have by their patronage helped to develop our

ROSES
We add a number of thoroughly tested roses to our collection
each year and at the same time eliminate a few of the least
worth-while.
We endeavor to always have a very high class collection to
meet all needs. (See pages 64 to 68.)

Our list is quite complete in this class of material, but the
demand is so varied and the range so vast that we cannot grow
all known hardy perennials. We can, because of our connec¬
tions with collectors and growers throughout the land, supply
practically any and all plants needed for landscape planting.
Let us have your list of wants.

THE COLE NURSERY CO.
PEONIES
Cole’s Peony Collection comprises two hundred and fifty
(250) varieties. By continual study and observation we have
procured this enviable collection. We continually stress quality,
and with this in mind we eliminate each year ten to fifteen of
the least desirous varieties and add as many new ones for test¬
ing. You can see you will be sure of receiving a worthwhile
variety — no matter which one you order.
Disease-free plants are necessary for continued bloom and
success. Cole does not hesitate to discard any plant showing the
sightest sign of disease.
Let us quote you on any varieties required.

The Cole Tree Digger
and
Root Pruner
Greater Durability — Less Draft — Easy Adjustments
The above illustration shows the
Cole Digger in operating position .
Features: Special “V” shaped cutting edge on blade
which prevents clogging. This same “V” J shape gives
lighter draft because of its shearing action, and at the
same time insures the digger staying in ground at uniform
depth.
Operation: Strictly a one-man digger. Easily lifted
from ground by one-man operator. Write us your digger
problems.
The above illustration shows the
Cole Digger with lever thrown for¬
ward and the blades tilted and being
drawn out of the ground by this sim¬
ple operation, no hand lifting being
required .
Special circular on all sizes of digger on request.
Price of three sizes as follows :
12 inch $ 75.00 each. Price of Blade separately $37.50
18 inch 100.00 each. Price of Blade separately 50.00
