Will bloom all summer in gay unusual
colors. They are strong vigorous plants
with broad handsome foliage. Plant
cannas in groups in the formal garden,
or use them as occasional plantings in
borders or beds. Plant in spring, about
18 inches apart and 2 inches deep, in

FRANK REINELT’S STRAIN OF TUBEROUS BEGONIAS
CULTURE OF TUBEROUS BEGONIAS—Start tubers in flats in a mix-
ture of peat and sand, leaf mold and sand or in peat alone. Keep
moist in a warm placé, until 3 or 4 inches of growth develops. Then,
plant in a permanent location, or, pots. Started this way in flats dur-
ing January and February, tubers will develop.a heavy root system,
which produce fine plants.

ACIDANTHERA MURIELAE
Abyssinian Sword Lily. A real find from Western Abyssinia.
As easily grown as the gladiolus, it is similarly planted and
harvested. It blooms from mid-August to September. It has
tall rigid stems 4 feet or higher, with very sweet scented
flowers. Petals are pure white with a purplish maroon blotch
at their base. Excellent cut flower.

GLADIOLUS
Our bulbs are grown by one of
Oregon's oldest and most reliable
growers. Gladiolus should be
planted after the danger of frost
has passed. Plant the bulbs about
4 to 6 inches deep, and about 6 to
7 inches apart. Full sun is best.
Plant in staggered rows for a bet-
ter effect. Excellent cut flower.
PICARDY—The old stand-
by. Has won more prizes
than any other glad. Large
well expanded blooms of
delicate shrimp pink,
many open at same time.
Late mid-season bloomer.
BEACON—Very spectacular, rose salmon
with creamy throat. Blooms approximately 3
months after planting.
CANDY HEART—Very large blooms of a soft
clear pink with bright carmine blotch in
throat. Early mid-season bloomer.
MARGARET BEATON—A broad, tall beauti-
ful clear white with small cherry blotch in
throat.
KING LEAR—Long flower spikes, with vel-
vety, ruffled red-purple blooms. Mid-season
bloomer.
ROSA VAN LIMA—An excellent light rose
pink, shading deeper in the throat. A very
good cutflower.
SNOWPRINCESS—One of the very best
whites, with long stems which never crook.

ALGONQUIN — Noted for
its long spikes with its

One of our oldest customers has grown Lily of the Valley ‘Fortin’ for
many years in her garden. This variety, and she has tried them all, is
the only one which has established itself for more than ten years in
her Piedmont garden. We were fortunate in securing a limited supply
of this rare variety through our growers in Holland.

CALLA LILIES
The pink and yellow Callas are sum-
mer blooming bulbs and should be
planted from January until April.
Plant bulbs about four inches deep,
and keep well watered during the
growing season. They can be left in
the ground in the milder regions, but
should be lifted, dried and stored in
a frostless place when there is danger
of frost.
CALLA RHEMANI SUPERBA. This isa
new and far superior variety. Flowers
are fairly large and are pale pink.

CALLA ELLIOTTIANA. The yellow calla lily has
larger flowers than the pink and is a beautiful gar-
