with an almost unbelievable number of jewel-like flowers, truly a mammoth
bouquet. The delicately colored blossoms, which at a little distance resemble
somewhat a multitude of gorgeous butterflies at rest, with motionless out-
stretched wings, vary in color, including such hues as cool translucent laven-

This type of Peony is very graceful in growth and
quite different in type of flower. The flowers are single
or semidouble with wide flaring petals of exquisite
coloring and texture. The centers are usually a more or
less compact mass of tiny petals or petaloids surround-
ing the stamens and usually of a color contrasting with
the main petal color. Very charming color effects are
found among them.
