Our Pecan Trees Are Grown On Selected Rootstocks
We have found that there are some pecan seed that produce
superior rootstocks. After careful selection and observation, we
have chosen one which produces a more vigorous; thrifty and
quick-growing tree. These trees also develop a superior root
system. Our trees have plenty of side roots that extend from
the top to the bottom of the tap root. Some of our seedlings
have grown to a size large enough to be budded just six months
after planting. By setting trees that have been budded on these
root-stocks, you get a tree that makes quicker growth and comes.
into bearing one to two years earlier than the ordinary tree.
A PECAN ORCHARD IS A LIFETIME INVESTMENT. One
should always set the very best trees obtainable. Once a scrub
tree has been set, one will seldom dig it up and reset to a good
tree. The poor tree remains and takes up the same space that
a good tree would occupy. One or two pounds of pecans will pay
the difference in price. A pecan orchard will prove a much bet-
ter investment if all of the trees are vigorous and thrifty.
A few pecan trees planted around your home will increase the
value of your property.
We invite you to come and see our trees and compare them with
any other that you may find. :
STUART Pecan: Stuart comes nearer to being well adapted to
all sections of the country and all soils than most any other
variety. It is a good producer and a fast growing healthy tree.
The meat has rich pecan flavor and the shell is medium thick.
Stuart is highly resistant to scab and a regular bearer.
SUCCESS: One of the most popular eastern varieties because
of its excellent flavor, large, plump, smooth kernels that re-
lease from the thin soft shell. These nuts usually run about
forty to the pound. The tree is a beautiful grower and is highly
resistant to scab. Success ripens a few days later than Stuart.
