After the decoration of graves by veterans and com-
mittee at the Hawkins, Davis, Cram, Merrill, Canney,
Morse, Bean, Pleasant View, and Senter yards, with
Bugler Elmer Huntress, who played the reveille, our
public meeting was at Grange Hall, Rev. Thos. J. Cate,
of Meredith, being speaker of the day. He gave a very
scholarly and pleasing address, making a strong plea
for more Christian spirit to prevail among the nations.
The Meredith High School Orchestra furnished mu-
sic and Miss Ethel Severance of Laconia, read. The
school children of the town furnished a pleasing pro-
gram and Myron Goodale rendered the Gettysberg ad-
dress in a most impressive manner.

TOWN OF CENTER HARBOR
REPORT OF SCHOOL BOARD
To the Taxpayers and Citizens of Center Harbor :
It is gratifying to be able to report another very
successful year of school administration, and we would
invite your careful perusal of the Superintendent's re-
port (following this) which contains full details of com-
parison with previous years, from which you will
note a marked improvement in attendance, punctuality,
and health of scholars, indicating splendid co-operation
on the part of teachers, scholars and parents, and in
this connection we record with pride to another year
without a case of complaint coming from parents con-
cerning treatment of, or inattention to their children,
a fact that is to the credit of teachers and scholars.
Your Board has held nine meetings during the year,
receiving monthly reports of supervision from Superin-
tendent Buker, and carefully considering all matters
pertaining to management and upkeep of the schools.
Town House School
During the period between Spring and Fall terms,
the number of cl^ildren of school age in this District
increased from six to fifteen and it was deemed advisa-
ble to reopen this school house, although at an addi-
tional expense of about four hundred dollars. Our Su-
perintendent was fortunate, considering the short no-
tice, in securing Miss Eunice Hunt as teacher, who has
rendered very satisfactory service.
Sale of Old School Houses
We are glad to report the satisfactory disposition of
56
TOWN OF CENTER HARBOR
the Cram and Hawkins school buildings, from the sale
of which we realized $432.75 net.
With the view of accomplishing thirty-six full weeks
of school attendance, it was deemed wise to extend the
Spring termi schedule one week to offset the several
public holidays, thus making the present school year
really thirty-seven weeks.
The Board again desires to express its high apprecia-
tion of the splendid spirit of co-operation which is man-
ifested by teachers, parents, and citizens, which has
enabled us to raise the standard of our schools.
Respectfully submitted,
C. P. JAMESON,
LILLIAN M. HANSON,
GEORGE A. SIMPSON,
School Board.

TOWN OF CENTER HARBOR
REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
I submit my fourth annual report for your careful
consideration.
It has been a year of general progress. We have
made advancement in several directions. The main
objective that the teachers and the superintendent
have had has been to raise the level of scholarship
second to none in the state. Never have the conditions
been more favorable. We have three experienced and
well-trained teachers, two of pur buildings are in good
repair, a fair amount of equipment, and a high grade
of pupils upon which to carry out our objective.
Teachers
Center Harbor is fortunate to have such a group of
teachers. I am convinced that the economical value
to Center Harbor in dollars and cents of the services
of these three teachers is incalculable. The teachers
are:
West Center Harber, Elena Smith
Village, Dorothy Davis
Town House, Eunice Hunt
Transportation
As there were at the beginning of the school year
thirteen pupils in the neighborhood near the Town
House Schoolbuilding, it was deemed wise to reopen
this school. We have now only one transportation
route. Elmer Home transports his son to the Village
school. Mr. Home also transports a pupil from Moul-
tonboro, each district paying an equal amount.
58
TOWN OF CENTER HARBOR
Graduation
On June ninth the following pupils graduated from
the eighth grade:
Katherine Blake, Daniel Fletcher, Myron Goodale,
Ruby Swinnerton, Margaret Taylor. The Chairman of
the School Board presented the diplomas. All five of
these are attending secondary schools.
Repairs
The village school building has been painted and
slate blackboards have been placed in the larger room.
The coming year the interior of this building will need
at least one coat of paint.
At the Town House School building we ought to in-
stall two chemical toilets and a jacketed stove. This
building should be painted in the near future. The
woodshed of this building is very small. It is estima-
ted that the above repairs v/iil cost at least $500.00.
Health
It is gratifying to see a gradual improvement in the
health of our pupils. Parents and citizens are realizing
more and more the importance of having the children
examined and treated to prevent illness. Our own
school physician is doing much toward educating pupils
to care for their bodies. Our local Red Cross organiza-
tion is doing much toward improving the health con-
dition of the pupils by promoting the school lunch.
