HARRISII. The Bermuda Easter Lily.
ga@S-Extra Select Stock.-@q

We havea splendid stock of this important variety grown
especially for us by one of the best growers on the Island, who
writes us regarding them as follows:

‘| believe these bulbs to be the best stock leaving Bermuda
this or any previous season, perfectly free from disease, no
longiflorum mixed with them and worth 50 per cent. more to the
grower than nine-tenths of the stock leaving the Colony this
season.”

The appearance of the bulbs seems to fully warrant the above
strong statement, and we do not anticipate that there will be
any cause for complaint this season.

Our supply of these are due to arrive early in October, earlier

even if planted as late as November, but to the florist who only
grows a few hundred it will be safer to depend on Harrisii.

OF SEASONABLE PLANTS FOR FLORISTS

Our stock of decorative plants, such as Palms, Ferns, Pandanus, Ficus, Araucaria, etc., etc., is, as usual at this season of the
year, very complete in a full line of all popular sizes, and the quality is of the same high standard for which our stock is
celebrated. Whenever possible, we solicit a personal inspection of our stock. We invite you to visit us at
any time.

OUR MEASUREMENT OF PLANTS, where given, as in the case of Araucarias, Palms, etc., etc., means the
height of the plant from the top of the pot to the top of the plant in its natural position. We make this explanation
of our way of measuring as many growers, contend that the proper measurement is from the bottom of the pot to the
tip of the longest leaf, and make their offers in that way.

Hardy Azalea Mollis. ror Forcing.

These varieties have for many years been very popular for
forcing in Europe, and have in recent years met with consider-
able favor here in the United States, and when better known are
certain to gain in popularity, especially for early forcing.

We are handling the stock of one of the most successful
specialists, and can supply in November fine bushy plants, 12
to 15 inches high, finely set with buds, $4.50 per dozen ; $35.00
per 100.

Special Prices
for Immediate Orders

We are now booking orders for fall delivery. Buyers who use
a quantity of this most popular Easter blooming plant will find it
to their interest to place their orders for next season’s wants
early, thereby securing the choice of the stock at lowest cost for
transportation, as the plants can be forwarded with perfect safety
during October, by fast freight, even to the most distant points.

Our growers in Belgium are among the most successful men
handling Azaleas ; they have been specialists in this line for many
years, and their principal stock is sent to us.

All of our importations of Azaleas are sent here in bulk, and
are all re-packed at our own nurseries, so that any plants that
may have not carried well are set aside. This insures our
customers of securing only first-class stock,
which cannot be compared with cheap assorted case lots, which
are made up in Belgium and distributed on this side just as
received, frequently not only containing damaged plants, but also,
as a rule, many varieties not at all suited to the American trade.

The varieties we supply are only the most popular sorts suited
to the American market. Our own representatives
make personal inspection of the plants in Bel-
gium previous to shipment, thus enabling us to
guarantee satisfaction.

COLEUS THYRSOIDEUS.

An exquisitely graceful new Japanese grass with slender green
foliage, edged white. 75 cts. per dozen ; $6.00 per I00.

Coleus Thyrsoideus.
(The Flowering Coleus.)

Entirely distinct from the varieties of Coleus heretofore known,
all of which were grown for their beautifully colored and
variegated foliage. which comes from Central
Africa, is not a foliage plant, its leaves being plain green ; but
it is a really grand flowering plant, and a winter flowering plant
at that, its season of flowering being from the Christmas Holidays
until late in March.

This species,

The plant is of strong growth, attaining a height of 2 to 2%
feet, and produces dense cylindrical spikes one inch in diameter
and from 6 to 12 inches long, of beautiful rich blue flowers,
which remind one of a spike of blue Larkspur. Blue flowers at
all seasons of the year are not plentiful and always much sought
after, especially so during the winter season. We consider this
plant a perfect gem and a plant that has a great future as a
winter flowering pot plant.

Our illustration gives a faint idea of the beauty and grace of
this new Maidenhair ; it is entirely distinct from all other varie-

Cibotium Schiedei.

This is undoubtedly the finest of all Tree Ferns in use for dec-
orative purposes, and, though appearing very soft, is in fact very
hardy, as has been demonstrated by the leading decorators
throughout the country, succeeding admirably as a house plant,
which is not the case with any other Tree Fern. It possesses a
graceful and delicate appearance that is found in no other plant.
It is a variety that is always scarce and difficult to obtain. We
have succeeded in growing a fine lot of this variety, and offer

STEPHANOTIS.

Double Violets. Marie Louise.

A fine lot of thrifty healthy plants of this most desirable
standard variety, in strong and field-grown clumps. $1.25 per
doz.; $8.00 per 100; $75.00 per 1000. (Ready about Sep-
tember 25th. )

Single Violets.

The varieties offered below are great improvements over the

old sorts, which were practically of little use except at such

| seasons when double flowering sorts were not to be had, while in

these new sorts the flowers are of such immense size that they
are fully as desirable as the finest doubles. We offer strong
field-grown clumps.
Admiral Avellan, reddish purple, of good size.
La France, rich violet blue, large and very fragrant.
Luxonne, soft violet purple, very fragrant. ;
Princess of Wales, intensely fragrant, soft violet-blue.
75 cts. per doz.; $6.00 per 100.

Vriesia.

Splendens. A beautiful Bromiliad with light green foliage,
transversely marked with brownish black bars, as shown in
the illustration. It throws up a tall spike of brilliant scarlet
bracts, from which the yellow flowers are produced. The rich
coloring of the bracts continues fora long time. An excellent
house plant in every way, as it does not suffer from a dry
atmosphere. (See cut.) 35 cents each.

Early Flowering Pzonies.

These varieties are specially valuable to plant for cut flowers,
as they come into bloom fully two weeks earlier than the general

_ collection and at which time much better prices can be realized.

Our stock of Officinalis Rubra, which is always in strong demand,
is especially large and fine.

Primula Veris Superba.
(New Giant Hardy Primrose. )

In size of flower, this is fully three times as large as any hardy
Primrose, the average size of the flower being over one inch,
and frequently over 2 inches, with trusses of bloom 6 inches in
diameter. It is perfectly hardy, grows from 10 to 12 inches
high, and begins to flower earlier and continues in bloom longer
than any other plant of the same family known tous. Its greatest
merit consists in the fact that it is not only one of the easiest
plants to force, and sells on sight when brought into flower during
the winter and early spring months, and especially so when grown
as an Easter plant.

The plants can be stored in cold frames, successive batches
being brought into a cool greenhouse to flower as required, allow-
ing about four to five weeks’ time to bring them into full bloom.

Strong plants 75 cents per dozen; $6.00 per 100.
