DREER’S SUPREME HYACINTHS
Hyacinths are perfectly hardy in all parts of the United States and Canada. They come into
bloom outdoors at the same time as the midseason Tulips. The bulbs must be planted in the fall to
bloom the following spring. In the garden, place them with the base 5 to 6 inches below the soil
level. Be sure to plant the bulbs all at the same depth as otherwise they might not flower at the
same time. Beside their value for garden display they are exceedingly popular for flowering in the
house. For this purpose the Mammoth or the Extra-Large bulbs should be chosen.

Narcissus
Daffodils
Medium Trumpet or Chalice Cup
The Chalice-Cup or Medium-Trumpet group of Daffodils or Narcissus includes some of the most
beautiful varieties. In the Incomparabilis group the cup or crown is not less than 14 of the perianth
petals, whereas in the Barri group the cup is less than 4% the length of the perianth segments. In the
Leedsi group the size of the cup varies but the perianth always is white and the cup or crown is
either white, cream, or has a pinkish tint. All of them are splendid for naturalizing because they are
reliably hardy and they multiply more rapidly than those belonging to
the Giant-Trumpet class.
Those who have proper facilities will find them excellent also for growing in, pots or pans. For best
effect in the garden they should be planted in groups.

DREER’S GERMAN IRIS
For a Riot of Color in May and June
We have yet to plant German Iris in a place they would not grow—sun or shade; banks or terraces; moist or dry.
They grow and multiply and yield a prodigious amount of bloom through May and June. Two firm rules to follow
in planting are: 1. No fresh manure.
2. “Knuckles up,” that is. the tops of the rhizomes (roots) should show just
above the surface of the ground when planted. For fertilizer use dried sheep or cow manure or bone meal.
September or October is the best time to plant.
Angelus. 3 ft. One of the very finest orchid-pink Iris.
The blooms, heavily textured, are ideally spaced on a
well-branched stalk. A new self with a shimmering
mauve iridescence on the falls. 60c each; 3 for $1.50;
12 for $4.75.
Buffawn. 3 ft. Buff-fawn with a brilliant tangerine
beard. Pronounced flaring blooms of light tan color
with a pinkish glow; prominent red-orange beard. 75c
each; 3 for $2.00; 12 for $7.00.
Copper Lustre. 3 ft. Instantly distinguishable from
other Iris is this large, odd and beautiful copper-toned
flower overlaid with a golden iridescence. 60c each;
3 for $1.50; 12 for $4.75.
Destiny. 3 ft. A rich, somber-toned variety with ex-
ceedingly velvety black plum-purple falls and standards
and rich gold beard. An effective very dark Iris. 60c
each; 3 for $1.50; 12 for $4.75.
Elmohr. 3 ft. One of the most exciting and talked-of
Iris we have grown in years. An exquisite shade of
rich, reddish mulberry, incredibly glossy and lustrous;
the color seems to smolder as if some interior source of
light were seeping out. $1.25 each; 3 for $3.00.
Elsa Sass. 3 ft. Enticing ‘“lemon-ice’ toned yellow,
an entirely new shade. Cool and frost-like sulphur-
yellow with a white blaze near the haft. Elongated
blooms of medium size, frilled at the edges. 60c each;
3 for $1.50; 12 for $4.75.
Garden Magic. 3 ft. A top-flight red. Flowers of
smooth, velvety-toned vivid red on medium tall stems.
Rich color, good substance and form. Not a fast grow-
er, it takes about two years to give its best perform-
ance. $1.00 each; 3 for $2.75.
Golden Majesty. 3 ft. A very fine golden yellow, glis-
tening smooth and unfading. The good-sized, gleaming
gold blooms are of majestic classic form. 75c each; 3
for $2.00; 12 for $7.00.
Great Lakes. 3 ft. Winner of the Dykes Medal in
1942, this is about the finest light pure blue. Of good
size and form, with a pronounced flare and stiff, crisp
petal texture, it is most striking. Rugged and hardy,
we highly recommend it. $1.00 each; 3 for $2.75.
Gudrun. 2% ft. A splendid white for fore-ground plant-
ing. A very large variety with shapely blooms of ex-
cellent texture. Warm white despite its snowy color-
ing, due in part to the warm golden beard. 60c each;
3 for $1.50; 12 for $4.75.
Lighthouse. 3 ft. A most unusual coalition of colors—
clear old-rose standards and rose-red falls. A torch-
like center of yellow sends streams of gold from the
heart of the flower. 75c each; 3 for $2.00.
Marquita. 3 ft. Its luminous cream standards are the
last word in serene but warm exquisiteness. The water-
melon-rose falls are veined rather than solidly colored.
60c each; 3 for $1.50; 12 for $4.75.
Miss California. 314 ft. An enormous flower of lilac-
pink, a pleasing tone, with a lemon-yellow beard. A
prolific variety and a most satisfactory garden subject.
60c each; 3 for $1.50; 12 for $4.75.

medium blue. In every way a splendid Iris. 60c each;

Morocco Rese. 3 ft. Delectable rose-pink. The warm
coloring gives a soft yellow glow at the heart; a pleas-
ing yellow beard. Popular and in heavy demand. Takes
two years to become established. 75c each; 3 for $2.00;
12 for $7.00.

veins and dots of violet. One of the largest Iris. 60c

garden. Standards are golden bronze; falls glowing
copper-red. Vivid and intense and outstanding for
nee planting. 60c each; 3 for $1.50; 12 for
Sable. 3 ft. A wonderful shade of deepest black-violet
with a claret tone. Arresting in its depth of color, even
to the beard. A lustrous sheen completes the splendid
harmony of this fine Iris. $1.00 each; 3 for $2.75.
Snow Flurry. 314 ft. A beautiful, ruffled blue-white, like
an enveloping soft snow spray. The unopened buds are
lightly tinted blue, but the blossoms open a cool white.

DREER’S WORLD-FAMOUS ROSES
For Fall Planting
Fall is one of the better times to plant Roses. The fall shows no such vagaries of weather as experienced in early
spring. Unusually late springs mean that Roses cannot be planted until late April, by which time fall planted roses
will have made considerable new growth.
Roses planted in November are all set to grow at the first sign of spring.
Everblooming Hybrid-Tea Roses
Strong, Budded, 2-Year-Old, Field-Grown, Dormant Plants
The list of Roses offered has been carefully selected to give our customers a wide selection of colors and types.
You will find the newest of the new as well as many old time favorites. All are perfectly hardy and if properly
cared for will give you bloom from late spring until late fall.
Roses will be shipped in early November and we advise early preparation of the beds so that there will be no delay
in planting once they are received. Roses will be shipped by Express, charges collect. If wanted by Parcel Post add

Enchantingly Beautiful
Two sensational New Roses. Not just a new color,
but a new type. Strong bushy plants, practically mildew

are at the same time ideal for garden Roses. Plants
“break” freely and continuously and consequently are
seldom without flowers.

the most delightful shade of pink. Flowers last almost
as long when cut as they do on the bush. $1.50 each.

hanced by the deep glossy green of the foliage. Flowers

at the same time. Ideal for cutting. $1.50 ‘each.

Floribunda Roses
These Floribunda Roses represent a very important
class for garden planting yet they also are excellent for
cutting. Unlike the Hybrid Tea Roses the flowers are
borne in showy large clusters which give them their
superb display value. In addition they bloom without in-
terruption from early summer until hard frost arrives in
late fall. They are easy to grow and exceptionally
winter hardy.
White Finch
Rosenelfe
Improved Lafayette. Brilliant flowers of medium size
borne most abundantly on sturdy plants. The deep
glowing red blooms are vividly suffused with crimson
and large clusters of them give an impressive garden
display. Also very fine for cutting. $1.25 each.
