GREETING.

A List of Our Supplies is Herewith Presented.

— eb ~

Twenty-eight Springs have awakened into life the great laboratory of
mature, with its bursting bud and opening bloom. ‘Twenty-eight Summers
have developed and matured plant, seed and fruit. Twenty-eight Autumns
have burnished both fruit and leaf with yellow and crimson, and for twenty-
eight years has winter returned with her snowy protecting mantle since we
began to develop into growth, propagate and mature that which has rendered
so much to the happiness of mankind. Fruit trees, vines and plants, beautiful
ornamental trees, evergreens and flowering shrubs, roses, vines and creepers,
have been sent out yearly by the thousands, not only in this vicinity but into
many other States and Territories, from our Nurseries, which are located on
Twelfth Street, three miles east of the post office.

Our general stock of Fruit Trees, Vines and Plants; Ornamental, Decid-
uous and Evergreen Trees; Flowering Shrubs, etc., has never been so extensive
and complete in every department as at this time. Everything has been well
and carefully grown.

It will be found on examining our list that we have a very extensive as-
sortment. Our long experience in the business has led us to realize what is
required to supply the wants of a city and country trade like this demands, and
with a view of filling all orders from our own grounds we have not made a
specialty of a few things, but have a general assortment of all the new and
leading varieties growing in these nurseries that are worthy the attention of
the planter.

Gentlemen making extensive improvements or adding to their collection,
Landscape Gardners; Superintendents of Public Parks, Lawns, Cemeteries,
etc., etc., will find it to their advantage to examine our stock.

It has been acknowledged by all who have visited our Nurseries that we
have the largest and finest collection of Evergreens and Ornamentals that can
be found anywhere west of the State of New York, and the advantage of having
trees acclimated and grown here, where they are exempt from long shipments
and exposure, is no small matter to the purchaser.

Many failures occur in transplanting evergreens, because of exposing the roots to the atmos-
phere, causing the sap to cease to flow, and it being of a rosinous nature the pores of the roots and
branches become clogged, when nothing will restore them again to life. Our evergreens have been
several times transplanted in the nursery, and in taking them up when sold or for shipment, we
handle them with the greatest of care to avoid exposure of the roots, and when desired ly the pur-
chaser we take them up, leaving a ball of earth to the roots, and sack it. In this way the success
in transplanting is made as certain as the transplanting of a willow. Evergreens should have some

shading the first year to protect them from the hot sun and winds.
The prices given here are for Sacked Evergreens.
