Beckert’s Giant Darwin Tulips
MAY FLOWERING
O tulip has enjoyed such an ever increasing popularity as the
N Darwin Tulip. Whether planted in large formal beds, in the
border, in group planting, or in beds on the lawn, the combina-
tions of delicate shades which may be had will never fail to attract
attention. The chief characteristics of the Darwins are the perfect
cup-shape flowers, exquisite colorings, long wiry stems, and the last-
ing qualities of the bloom. They are of the late flowering class, fol-
lowing several weeks after the Early Tulips. Darwins grow 24 to 36
inches high and excel all other tulips in color, ranging from softest
pink to brilliant scarlet and crimson, blue, mauve, lavender and black.
The numerals following the varieties indicate the height in inches.

Fall Lawn Making
EPTEMBER, with its warm days and cool, dewy nights, is an
S admirable time to make a new lawn or renovate the old one.
The September sun has plenty of warmth to properly germi-
nate the seed and a good root growth will be secured before cold

better than those sown in early spring.

Lawn Mixture and it comprises the finest assortment of recleaned
grasses, carefully blended in the proper proportions so as to insure
a perfect and luxuriant lawn of velvety green texture. The differ-
ent grasses in this formula are all selected for a special purpose;
some for their deep rooting and spreading nature, others for their
fine leaves and color, others for their ability to make a close, dense
turf and season of growth, some for their ability to thrive under
trying conditions of heat and drought. Use 1 pound to 250 square
feet, 100 pounds to the acre. 1 lb., 60c; 2 lbs., $1.15; 5 lbs., $2.75;
