People have stated that he tends to be 'flowery' or over descriptive. I have found that for the time it was published that it is not as difficult to wade through as other material I have encounter for the same time period. The positive light with which he portrayed aboriginal cultural has also been criticised and the information he provides ridiculed. I believe that this is due to prejudice than actual fact and the information needs to be looked at in a different light. The botanical information was not questioned so I find it curious that the other information was. I was quite pleased with the information I discovered.
