VICK’S HIGH-GRADE ASTER SEED

Flowertand plant... ‘ e

Rochester, N. Y., August 7, 1905.
Mr. Charles H. Vick, Pres.,
James Vick’s Sons, City.

Friend Charles —We cannot speak too highly of the superior
quality of your Aster seed. We have been constant users of all
varieties for years, and know with what extreme care your stocks
are cultivated. For the practical uses of florists whose trade demands
the choicest strains, your seed 1s almost a necessity.

Very cordially yours,
(Salter Bros are the largest retail SALTER BROS.
florists in Western New York.) PerA.G'S.

E are the originators of Vick's BRANCHING Asters, from which all other stocks of Branching Asters
VV of any worth have directly or indirectly come. We make a specialty of Aster growing, and year by
year we have developed and improved our stocks until they surpass all others. Every ounce we offer is grown
from pedigreed stock on our own farms under our immediate supervision, whereby we secure the highest pos-
sible types. Our Asters are exceptionally free from disease and blight. WICK QUALITY in Asters means
a profusion of bloom, substance of petals and length of stem not to be found elsewhere. Florists and others
who want stock upon which they can depend and which will give satisfaction every time should invest in

The most beautiful color ever seen

in the Aster.

Vick’s
Lavender Gem When first opened
the flower is an exquisite shade of
delicate lavender, deepening with age. It is always full
double, showing no tendency to produce single or semi-
double blooms. The feathery effect of the Ostrich-
feathered type is enhanced by the fact that it bears a
large proportion of long, partly tubular florets that are
irregularly cut and slashed, so that the flower looks like
a ragged Chrysanthemum. In habit the plant is erect
and of medium height, branching close to the ground.
The flowers are borne in profusion on long, slender, wiry

VICK’S SNOWDRIFT

Vick’s Early Vick’s Early Ostrich-feathered Aster
S dcifi Snowdrift is the most valuable addition
noweor! ;
to the list of Asters that has been

made since our introduction of Vick’s Branching Aster
in 1893. Is is seldom that any plant combines extreme
earliness and high quality. Vick’s Early Snowdrift is
positively the earliest white Aster in cultivation, while
the flower is not surpassed in size and beauty by any of
the later varieties. The long, recurved petals give the
flowers an exceedingly graceful effect, heightened in
many cases by the ragged, irregular character of the
center petals. The type is well established, all the
flowers coming perfectly double.

Trade packet, 75 cents; ounce, $8.00.

VICK’S DAYBREAK

Vick’s This beautiful Aster is one of those rare
Daybreak gems uae EM to stay. For
florists’ use it is simply unsurpassed.
The flowers are round as a ball, very large and full, on
long stems; the color is a lovely sea-shell pink. The
plant flowers very early, and is a continuous free
bloomer, a compact, strong grower, and in all respects
a desirable acauisition.

This new Aster is the handmaid to Vick's
Daybreak, being identical in form and habit,
but the blooms are pure white. A finer com-
bination of color cannot well be imagined than the mass-
ing together of these two beauties. The plant is a free
and early bloomer, like its companion.

Trade packet, 25 cents; quarter ounce, 50 cents;
half ounce, 80 cents; ounce, $1.50.

A Final This is only a partial list of the varieties
Wore we handle This year we have a larger

acreage than ever before of strong, healthy
plants; but in spite of constantly increased acreage,
the demand for our Aster Seed continues to exceed
the supply. Inasmuch as it is our desire to get our
Aster Seed into the hands of all the leading florists,
we urge the importance of placing orders with us now
for delivery as soon as the crops are ready for market
and before the busy season begins. While it must be
understood that orders booked now are subject to crop
conditions, we cannot too strongly emphasize the
advantage of early ordering, which will greatly increase
the likelihood of securing all the varieties wanted before
the leading ones are sold out.
