James Reese EuropeJames Reese Europe - Castle House Rag (February 10, 1914)

"Castle House Rag - One Step", performed by Europe's Society Orchestra, recorded "under the personal supervision of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castle" on February 10, 1914. James Reese Europe was an important musical figure in the ragtime era (his band was the first Black band to record commercially). Vernon and Irene Castle were early popularizers of social dancing to syncopated music. From the original 12" 78rpm disk.

Subject: Whoa There! Part III!
Just a crazy song, that's in the quickest time imaginable. Just wondering how the orchestra was able to keep up. And dig the xylphone spots! And the clops!! Woo baby! This was a great record!
