Gows 1st Set of Caledonian Quadrilles, as performed at the Royal State Balls.
1842
This set of quadrilles were probably created by
John H. Gow, a grandson of the famous
Niel Gow. For more information on the Gow family see
https://www.regencydances.org/paper022.php. This particular publication was advertised for sale in 1842 (see
The Morning Post newspaper for the 26th January 1842). This edition was issued in London by Leoni Lee, "Music Seller to Her Majesty Queen Victoria". The tunes had previously been published by Gow in his 1817
1st Set of Quadrilles.
