This book is the work of a fantasist and should never have made it to print. After falsely claiming that Gaelic was the original language of Britain and that Stonehenge was built by Gaels, the author goes on to link almost every place-name in Lothian to a supposed Gaelic original. Musselburgh, a town once famous for its mussel beds, becomes "Mas Coill Bruch", the round hill. Joppa, named after a place in the Bible, becomes "Dubh Abh", the black water. Even names as self-explanatory as Pathhead and Hillend are totally misinterpreted. If you're looking for reliable information on the place-names of Lothian, look elsewhere.
