I agree with alt.nerd.obsessive's review. This JLC show suffers from Jay Clifford's unfortunate food poisoning. The band is doing their best to keep on with the show, but their performance is tired and off. The redeeming part of listening to this show is hearing the jam (track 10). If you're new to the band, this is definitely *not* one of the shows you should download for a first listen. Instead, try 05/11/2002 at the Canal Club.

Clean soundboard recording of a horrible show. Jay had food poisioning for this one, and he sounds like death. The whole band is playing in slow motion due to 'sympathy pains.' This show is worth a listen (maybe two). At one point, Matt jokes that this is probably the reason people tape shows. The set list is very Matthew heavy, and at a certain point, Jay leaves the stage due to sickness.
Matt begins saying "let the man go through," which prompts the group to jam on Soul Coughing's "Super Bon Bon." Ward then plays the main riff to the Verve's "Bitter Sweet Symphony" while the audience sings. They then joke that's the reason they don't play covers (they can't remember any songs).
I was going to upload this one myself for historical purposes...but it is a painful listen if you're used to jumping up and down when the band plays (played) Smiling Down. I gave it 3 stars because of the humor involved, and this is a pretty infamous show. If you're looking to dance, get a Music Farm or an Atlanta show.
