Lupton announces that he is sending a box of contributions for the Anti-Slavery Fair. He mentions the great success of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and suggests changing the title of the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society so as to avoid conveying the impression that it is a purely local society. Lupton gives an account of the contents of the box of contributions and mentions the Earl of Carlisle as being friendly to the anti-slavery cause
