Subject: A story to tell
Subject: A story to tell
This book mainly about the author story of his journey undertaken dring his leave from British Regiment based in India. His experiences in regards to places visited was amply written including some people and nobility he met.
What made me enjoyed this book was because he included some personal element to this. For example, his surprised upon hearing his march played by german military band in the middle of play & his encountered with younger Labitzky sequently leading to friendship with this great composer.
To made things easy, he written down some of his journey by the flow of river Danube. Some of interesting folk tales & history was included to give unfamiliar readers more local knowledge of those places. I love his story of small german, hungarian, servian town.
The way he narrated this book was understood by me. The only exception was his journey to Tibet on the last chapter. I didnt exactly understood the conversation took place during his meeting with His Holiness Dalai Lama. It was done in german at Maine slang but the author had translated it. Nevertheless, its too philosophical & might be too theological for me to absorb the words of Lama; being not a Buddhist myself.
Anyway, my inability to understood this coversation didnt stood in any way for given this author 5 stars.
