the playin' in the band will reaffirm what made them the best, the dark star>phil solo>dew will remind you why we kept coming back.

8-27-72 is a must have ... best is such a hard thing to decide, especially seeing as I haven't heard a lot of these shows yet. I also recommend 9-20-90 (first rate) and really like a lot of the Europe '72 stuff, although the sound quality is variable. They were really on that year.

5/8/77 was a great recording. 5/7/77 Boston was also very good as well as 5/9/77. I'm listening to 12/12/69 which is awesome. 10/19/74 is darn good.

I have been searching for years for a show I heard once. All I can remember is that they finished w/ sug mag-daydream and couldn't finish! Bobby mumbles something then Phil says " what Bobby meant to say was Jerry's fingers are frozen, my guitar is broken and my mind is blown, so we aren't going to be able to do an encore tonight"! The next night I think they played a double encore. Can anyone help me!?

The wird ending w/ no encore is 5/30/86 and t is a neat drug induced show.

Yeah, the GD played 5/11/86 and then their next show was 6/20/86......good luck finding this one. I went to a lot of shows and had even more tapes and I've never heard of such a moment. They did botch "Brokedown Palace" a couple of times at Red Rocks (9/5/85 and one of the '87 shows) but that's about it. As far as "best show ever" (said in Comic-book Guy tone) I could make a case for at least 200 shows being the "best ever". Just pick a show and listen. Chances are, you're going to hear something that you missed when you were either at the show or missed the last time you listened to the show. The term "best show ever" cracks me up.

Have to agree with the 5/8/77, it is my favorite.

Also like anything on Spring tour '71, lot's of really good pigpen stuff then (Princton's "Brooklyn Bridge Rap", Duke Univ's Lovelite, etc. Not sure on sound quality, I only have casettes of these shows, I recorded about 15 years ago in college.

Also really like the Riverfront/Cincinati show in summer of '85, awesome second set, and even the cassette I have is stellar quality.

I wish I could find some '71 stuff for download.

tough call. Im partial to anything from 77 but Cornell, 5-8-77 is insane probably the best ever Scarlet Begonias>Fire on the Mountain. 8-27-72 what a trippy show. Anything with Dancing in the Streets!!!
