This Dick's Picks has a morning dew that has a fixed cut from another show.

What is the Dick's Picks and what show was used to fix the cut in the tape?

I love your question, wd, and I thought and thought, but I got nothing. The closest I came is a half-memory that one of the commercially released Weather Report Suites (I think RT 2/3 from 6-18-74) included a few seconds at the beginning from another version, but damned if I can find the earlier thread where someone suggested that.

Having waited almost a day, can I semi-hijack your thread and ask a related trivia question? Maybe critical mass will also stir up an answer to yours.

Mine is: what commercial release has a Morning Dew that comes half from a SBD cassette and half from a SBD reel (both of the same performance on the same night)?

I actually feel BAD for those of you who can answer these questions w/o cheating...

Actually, there's reason to believe that eccentrics are actually happier than the average person:

...but it's worth noting that so far no one here appears to be able to answer any of these three questions without cheating.

Is it eccentricity or a form of OCD?

If I don't listen to Morning Dew five times in a row, I'm convinced something terrible is going to happen to me.

My wife just asked me why I'm laughing... some things can't be explained.

oh come on. I mean, this is obviously a pretty difficult question as I know of NO source to give verification to this, unless you wanna ask David, which I'm sure he'd happily confirm. But having listened to so many morning dews, when I heard those first two phrases I knew that I had heard it before.

And if its OCD i suffer from, lucky me!

It's very difficult - I'm not intending to slam you - I'm just amazed that someone would know the answer, but with this fanbase, I'm still surprised there haven't been some tries.

No worries. Way I see it, if you like a version of a song you probably know it well, and hence when you hear lick X, you know it, and listening to some different version while hearing X makes you go, what?

I personally only know of that truckin and dew, would be interested to know what other cuts have been fixed like this.

Okay wd, this has stalled. Want to bump it to the top of the stack by editing your initial post? Start a new thread? Or spill the beans? I'd love to listen to the DP in question as well as the other show you mention (and the same for your Truckin'), to see if I hear it the same way you do.

I just spill em. The dew is DP 28 and 1973-06-29. The first verse or so of DP 28 dew is from 1973-06-29. Kinda neat, because I really like jerry's inflection on that part. I never noticed that the slight change in sound was due to it being a different show. The other is DP 18. The part used to fix it is from 1-31-78. That one is a bit deeper into the song, its during the lyrics. Probably 3-6 minutes in? Havent went back to re-hear it in a while but came upon it a while back and was like DAVID!?! what is going on here? then he explained that when they can fix a cut like this, that they usually do (pretty sweet as Jerry's line from 1-31 is a great lick). But for something like, say DP 11 Dark Star for example, theres an unfixed cut because, frankly, how the fuck you gonna patch a dark star thats in spaceville?
