Subject: Awesome Book!
Subject: Awesome Book!
One of the best books I've ever read, Sri Pedderji (Paul Twitchell) wrote this book for Sri Rebezar Tarz, The Light Bearer in Modern times for Eckankar. This Book was mainly dictated to by Sri Rebezar Tarz through Sri Paul Twitchell!

Many people are quick to point out that Paul Twitchell apparently plagiarized much of the text. I'm not sure what that proves. Much of the text is original and well worth considering.
The discussion of the social conscience, for example, isn't in Julian Johnson's book, and I have never seen it anywhere other than in The Far Country.
The same is true of Twitchell's Discourses. Some of the material in the Discourses is most interesting, and I have never found it in any other source.
People with negative minds are too willing to discard the whole teaching, rather than doing the kind of work required to understand the path. And they are often followers of other teachings, but haven't developed the ability to discriminate between different teachings.

Subject: an EXCELLENT book

this book is a VERY informative read, and is filled with some very good advice on spiritual subjects, and comes highly recommended...one of the other two reviews unfortunately allows personal prejudice to color their opinions

This is a fantastic book full of insight into the nature of Soul and it's place in realms of consciousness which most people have never experienced. It imparts a divine wisdom which can be discovered yourself through Soul Travel, just as Paul Twitchell did.
Sadly the other reviewer had been misinformed.

Paul Twitchell was a notorious plagiarizer. He may even hold the record for the most plagiarized books ever written. He did this to start his own cult. You can prove it for yourself. Check out Julian Johnson's Path of the Masters on this archive site:
http://www.archive.org/details/ThePathOfTheMasters
Most of the Far Country was stolen from this book.
Also check out Lama Anagarika Govinda The Way of the White Clouds (plagiarized for Twitchell's The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad):
http://www.archive.org/details/TheWayOfTheWhiteClouds
Compare Govinda's chapter 2 with Twitchell's chapter 9 of the Shariyat in which he talks about Lai Tsi's vision. Govinda wrote his book 4 years before the Shariyat. Paul Twitchell took Govinda's story of Tomo Geshe, a Tibetan Buddhist saint and made him into Lai Tsi. Then he decided to make 2 Eck Masters out of Tomo Geshe because he relates how Lai Tsi's teacher was the Eck Master Tomo
Geshig.
