Solo saz recordings from Fyfield Down near Avebury, the chambers of Wayland's Smithy (longbarrow) and atop Dragon Hill (below the White Horse of Uffington). These places are all along The Ridgeway, the oldest road in England (now a public byway).
Notes
1-5 were recorded on Fyfield Down, 23/06/07, a few hours after some of this was recorded. 6-12 were recorded at Wayland's Smithy the next day, mostly in the chambers at the front of the longbarrow (the voices you can here being random visitors). 13-16 were recorded atop Dragon Hill a couple of hours later, just before the heavy rains came in (causing severe flooding in parts of the country), on the spot where, legend has it, St. George slayed the Dragon (White Horse of Uffington). "Betsy Bell and Mary Grey" is a traditional Scottish dirge I've speeded up and cheered up a bit. "Lothlorien" is the tune my friend Helen composed for the Tolkien poem to be set to. You can hear me saying "Sorry Helen!" at the end, as this version's a bit rough. |

Some excellent acoustic music recorded at one of the most ancient and beautiful places in England, well worth downloading and listening to.
